We stopped the Gerrrarrrd Media frenzy.

The nation owes us for that.

As a body of people we should be given the George Cross as recognition. Like Malta got.

Had some great chats with loads of Villa and Arsenal fans. Lots of laughs and the vast majority of Villa fans were dignified in defeat.

Aside from that the final signalled the end of Season 5 in a row of mainly horrible football.

I've been thinking about that a bit recently. Is it four seasons of horrible guff or five?

At the time, the Houllier season was pretty horrible, but it was a lot better for a bit at the end, and we actually finished ninth.

I genuinely can't make my mind up what I think of that season. At the time, it seemed horrible. I remember that home match against Sunderland as a particularly horrid experience.

yet at the same time, we broke our transfer record, and ended in a position we'd collectively give our right arms for these days.

I think what it comes down to is "you think this is bad now, but you'll really understand 'bad' in a few years time".

I think it's five because since MON fucked off it's been a train wreck for the most part. There have been intermissions of hope and frankly some great goals and football, but we have always found a way to revert back to the dross. Yes, if someone could have warned us in Houllier's season that it was going to get much, much worse I'd have built a bunker, stocked it full of canned food and toilet paper. Coming out only when my ham radio tuned to Radio 4 let me know it was 2017 or something.

Think how bad Wolves at home was in about March of that year. I didn't see us staying up after that given our last two games were Arsenal and Liverpool. It's 5 years...no doubt.

Weiman doesn't post anything on Twitter these days, even about the Villa. It used to be 'flamey' this, 'flamey' that at one time.

I couldn't get a ticket.

Same again.

This. I'm absolutely delighted I didn't part with hundreds of pounds to watch that insulting shite. Commiserations to those who did.

And yes, it's been 5 years of shit and many more years of cruel disappointment.

We remain classy, whilst others remain classless.

And if other reports about Leicester are true - our young players are not going to be caught in a sex tape scandal.

If they went to a brothel they'd have no idea how to score anyway.

My lad was on the BBC news playing football outside Wembley in his villa shirt against some arsenal fans. His current claim to fame is that he has now scored at Wembley on cup final day.

It was a better match than the cup final.
