Now, if it was steel drums with benjamin Zephaniah reading his poetry that'd be something worthwhile.

Fairly close to where the drum is there's an old guy who bangs on the edge of the stand anyway - I don't think it really makes that much difference.

We also have a bit of a problem with getting the upper and lower to sing the same thing at the same time and adding the drum could possibly help co-ordinate that.

Generally, I thought the atmosphere was really flat yesterday anyway, drum or no drum. I think on H&V we are pretty traditional in how we expect support to be, but we don't speak for everybody. I'd rather not have drums , or music after goals, but kids tend to love that stuff, and we do need to keep kids coming through the gates.

We should get a bloke on a loud hailer to stand at the front and below aggressive sounding songs at the rest of the Holte in Serbian and replace the mild mannered sounding chap who does the announcements with a southern Italian in a £1000 Armani suit.

(I will be honest and say I couldn't  hear the drum in K3)

I often have to switch the televised England home games off because the trumpet playing fucks make it unbearable. If i'm really that arsed about the game i'll turn the sound off. I wouldnt be able to do that at the Villa so this would be another reason not to go.

Jesus. If that ever happened at VP I'd seriously consider packing it up.

Well I'm bringing my kazoo with me next match. I'm going to try and get the themetune from Van der Valk started

I shall accompany you on my trumpet.

However I will be playing much lower than eye level.

I second this petition.
It's not atmosphere.
It's Leicester, it's Palace, it's Bolton, it's something you get at small-time clubs where children are allowed to bring toys in.
It's f***ing annoying, and twice as annoying when the football's shit.

Im always impressed by the atmosphere at Palace.

As long as the drum isnt within 20 yards of me its fine!

That's not atmosphere at Palace, it's rent-a-mob with no interest in the game going through an organised repertoire of crappy clappy-hand songs. It's no different to having speakers in the corner blasting out boy scout campfire songs.

Atmosphere at football grounds is the buzz created by the excitement of the play, or the buzz of anticipation of something about to happen, or the spontaneous singing, chanting or roaring of support for your team.

It's noticeable that at grounds where they have some tosser banging a drum, like Leicester when we were there in January, the rest of the crowd is pretty quiet and reluctant to sing anything for fear of little drummer boy thinking he's popular.

Quality rant. Agree with every word.
