This reminds me of the time they tried to play music after we scored a goal against Arsenal. I'm not a fan of atmosphere enhancement things like this although I was in upper Holte so that "singing section" is rarely audible enough to annoy me

Christ if today couldn't get any worse. A feckin' drum? I hate watching England home games because of the bloody feeble attempts at manufacturing an atmosphere. Shit it off straight away.

Absolutely hate it when clubs do this.

Off the top of my head I can think of Celtic and Burton Albion who literally start their music as soon as the ball hits the net. There's no chance for fans to even celebrate the goal before Tom Hark or the fucking Fratellis blares out.

Hasn't the drum been used at previous games ? I don't like it, don't want to be critical of supporters trying to generate an atmosphere that will help the players, but a drum , come on .

Deportivo. And we are not Bolton.
I confirm it was Deportivo.

Seem to remember something like 'Land of Hope and Glory' being played before kick-off, too.

It's freaking annoying and it does nothing for the amosphere.
It just smacks of trying way too hard and the Holte End when it gets going is amazing as it is.
Please get rid.

Or, playing devil's advocate, the atmosphere today was very "after the lord mayor's show" following the cup game and never really got going (Upper Holte)

Why not try it?

(However, anyone that brings a trumpet in deserves it shoving where the sun doesn't shine)

I second this petition.
It's not atmosphere.
It's Leicester, it's Palace, it's Bolton, it's something you get at small-time clubs where children are allowed to bring toys in.
It's f***ing annoying, and twice as annoying when the football's shit.

Im always impressed by the atmosphere at Palace.

As long as the drum isnt within 20 yards of me its fine!

That's not atmosphere at Palace, it's rent-a-mob with no interest in the game going through an organised repertoire of crappy clappy-hand songs. It's no different to having speakers in the corner blasting out boy scout campfire songs.

Atmosphere at football grounds is the buzz created by the excitement of the play, or the buzz of anticipation of something about to happen, or the spontaneous singing, chanting or roaring of support for your team.

It's noticeable that at grounds where they have some tosser banging a drum, like Leicester when we were there in January, the rest of the crowd is pretty quiet and reluctant to sing anything for fear of little drummer boy thinking he's popular.

I think we should bring back the pigeon loft in the roof of the Trinity Stand.   Makes as much sense as beating a bloody out of tune drum.
