That's really odd. My dad texted me exactly the same thing, word for word.

If he works out as well as Shoaib Malik did last year I will be very pleased.

We are ahead of the game calling ourselves Birmingham Bears, when all other cities will be fighting it out for their city to be part of our reformed rejuvenated, high profile 20/20 league we will already be firmly established.

I am not sure I agree with the idea in principle, but I would bet heavily that you are right. Colin Povey and his team are ahead of the curve on this, as they are on most things.

Would prefer Warwickshire but I have no problem with Birmingham Bears. There will need to be a massive overhaul of English cricket as propping up the archane county circuit is counter productive. The country cannot sustain 18 county teams in the present format and with specific regards to 20/20 it highlights where we're getting left behind. Successful proponents of the game have made it a cities affair and changed how the teams are seen and supported. We should give it a go and fully get behind the (abhorrent) game we created. Because it has changed 50 over cricket and likely to change the face of test cricket.
