Injury Statistics
« on: March 18, 2015, 06:54:52 PM »
It is too long to copy and paste all of it, so for those who like all these details
Aston Villa Injury Analysis

Example
Quote
Aston Villa player with the most injuries

Despite his most serious injury only keeping him out for three months, Gabriel Agbonlahor is the Villa player that has racked up the most injuries over the past five seasons.

Agbonlahor has suffered a total of 13 injuries in that time period – only four of which kept the striker out for longer than a couple of weeks.

He has suffered numerous ‘niggles’ to his calf, groin, hamstring, thigh and ankle over the past five seasons.

I'm struggling to believe these stats. Unless they're saying that Ron Vlaar's football allergy doesn't count as a proper injury?

Senderos and Baker must be the most injury prone, surely

Pity they don't do analysis that includes freakiest injuries...

Rather tempting to hijack this with a bit or reminiscing.

For starters:

Quote
ALAN WRIGHT
The diminutive former Aston Villa full-back strained his knee by stretching to reach the accelerator in his new Ferrari. He subsequently swapped the sports car for a Rover 416 (PA)

You know those moments when you have to google something to check you didn't make it up? :o
I'll see you a fast car full back and raise you a penetrating striker...

Quote
DARIUS VASSELL
The then Aston Villa striker missed several games after he drilled through his toe nail with a home power drill thinking it would relieve the pressure on a swollen toe. The attempt at DIY surgery succeeded only in giving the toe an infection which required medical attention (PA)

(2009) http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/player-loses-leg-after-lightning-strike-1780477.html?action=gallery&ino=21

Makes me wonder if there are freak villa injuries I missed hearing about, or other favourites  from the game?

Wasn't there a Vassell injury involving a bottle of ketchup falling on his toe?  He may have been at another club then....it also could have been a different player!

Yes, I know I could Google....
