Paul Lambert - The Glory Moments

I will probably take some flak for this... :)

Paul's not a bad bloke in my opinion just a bad manager,  He holds the club in high regard even though it did not work out for him or us but he did have some good moments(although few and far between)

I'll start with

That and QPR were quite exciting at home

The two Liverpool away games and the Man city and Norwich League Cups

Other than that pretty thin on the ground quality and excitement wise in 100 plus games

I tend to remember the poor performances because there was so many of them

That spell at the of his first season was the best it got. Lots of goals. Benteke, lowton, Westwood in fine form, an apparent vindication of the Young and hungry policy

It's been apparent ever since that this was a flash in the pan

I feel sorry for him. Must have been extremely stressful and I inagine that fed into his increasing caution

I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we're still not in massive trouble and hardly an attractive proposition at this point in time

I'm really not sure who to expect might come in for the rest of the season but the fact that people are seriously mentioning hoddle and little is pretty telling

Stoke away in his first season.

Pretty much every time we played Norwich.

Man City away in the League Cup.

I agree.
He wasn't to know that the following season nearly all the players would have a dip. Not just one or two, the whole chuffing squad seemed to lose it!
The 3-1 win at Arsenal was fantastic. What happened just after? Wenger went out and spent £40m on Ozil.
So, we could spin it that we made Arsenal what they are now.

Not from me.
Yes, it didn't work out, and a lot of the time it was pretty dire.
But, for me, we always seemed a couple of turns from home.
If Lerner had been a touch more willing to spend after the first season we may have got the two or three quality players that we were crying out for. We were linked with some exciting players but always had to make do with second or third best or even nothing.
Yes, it didn't work, and he did have to go, but I'll always think that it could have been so different.

Shortest thread ever?

They really are just moments in amongst the onslaught of ordinarily dreadful tedium served up during his tenure.  The one exception for me was the 6-1 at home to Sunderland, it was the one and only complete 90 minute performance he managed in 2 and a half seasons.

The best thing about Lambert's reign was getting some good players in relatively cheaply. He could spot a player, if he had a moderate amount of money to work with.

I always felt that the good moments were despite the efforts of the manager rather than because of him.

City and Chelsea at home last season. The good form at the end of his first year was the only time his team had any sort of positive consistency.  Some good results on paper, Liverpool away this season, arsenal last but generally these were few and far between amongst the generally dreadful.
