Bad, bad news. Sky will put up the cost of their subscriptions, tickets wont be reduced and players and agents will get even richer. Depressing

I'm just waiting for the first £500k per week prem player

Football will hopefully eat itself one day so we can somehow start again

It's not looking likely. Average attendances are higher than they've been since just after the war!

I assume overseas rights will also add to the pot?

Yes.

If I read that correctly - BT have agreed to pay £960m for 136 games at a mere £7,058m per game.  How ludicrous.

If I heard/understood right the whole thing worked out to ten million a game. Like you, I was thinking I must have misheard or misunderstood.

Let's put it in even more context.  Either £7m or £10m for Burnley v West Brom type fixtures.
To add more context, in 2017 the bottom team in the league should get £105m in TV money. As recently as last season that money alone would have been enough to put that club in the Deloitte Top 20 revenue-generating clubs in the world that our senior management are such fans of.

The figures are partly astonishing and partly unsurprising.

Makes it seem even more strange that they didn't think it might be worth trying a bit harder to get some of that cash.

BT has 42 games at £7m per game. Sky has 126 at £10m per game.

The worldwide rights could well be a similar figure.

Be interesting to see if any new entrants come into the market for those such as Apple or Microsoft...

Cumulatively they'll probably be a similar figure - but they're not sold as bulk 'worldwide rights'. A deal is made with a Spanish broadcaster who pays x amount, an Australian broadcaster who pays x amount, a Norwegian broadcaster who pays x amount etc.

I remember a stat from earlier this year that on the current amounts, more is spent for the right to broadcast the Premier League rights in Singapore than the Bundesliga receives in total worldwide TV revenue.

Or  even Google!!
A couple billion to show premier league matches to a world wide audience would a drop in the ocean for them.

It's mental, but even more important we're part of it.

I assumed it would come in next season but date says from start of 2016 season so we could still go down, come back up and get part of the bonanza.

Yipee.....

This TV deal is madness. Sky have retained what they already had but paid 83% more.
The stories of other bidders must have spooked them in to paying more.

But the fans will be the one's who pay in the end. If you subscribe to Sky then you will pay more and if you want BT as well you will pay more. The fan who goes to the games will have to put up with a Friday evening fixture on top off all the other fixtures that are moved during the season.

When will it end I hear people say? Never I think, I suspect the next tv deal will be worth 8 Billion and so on and so on.

I can't help but laugh when I read the premier league chief say it is all about keeping the best players in the best league in the world.

I am sure when this league started in 1992 it was to help England win the world cup (fewer fixture being one of them).

Players, agents, Managers, estate agents, luxury car dealers will be the ones to benefit from this deal.

....then the match-going fans really will become mere extras in a TV show.
I've been thinking this for a while now.

Listening to Scudamore earlier, he was saying how important the fans were to the package. He wants full grounds at televised games. Yeah, that's why games get shunted around to suit broadcasters as a matter of course.

If he was serious about the fans then they'd see to it that all season card holders in the PL got Sky Sports and BT Sports free for twelve months.

Unfortunately Scudamore is more deluded than Lambert!

Great, they can afford an even more out-of-touch-with-reality lifestyle than the one they had before.

I always think that the 1890s were the golden age of English football.
