In truth, he would have more chance of being injured in the new style training sessions at BH.

Is that a criticism of the new regime?

No. That is what is now required tog give us a chance of safety. Pulis at WBA has done much the same.

Well what's he meant to do then? Get picked for Germany?

Yes. It's a measure of how far we've sunk that their isn't one Villa player in the German squad. You'd think Delph, as captain and with a fat new contract would do something about it.

You can blame Lerner or the manager all you like but the players have to take some of the blame here. Have you seen even one of our players taking German lessons during training? Would it kill them eat more sausages?

Overpaid lazy players are the problem here, I fear it will be a long long time till we see a local brummie lad playing for Villa & Germany. Disgraceful. Club is a laughing stock.

I would also expect said players to come out as gay once they've made their Germany debut. Standards must be set.

Fun fact of the day. Delph has zero yellow cards for us this season.

He only got 7 last season which was a surprise. I usually expect him to be in double figures. Still 1 red card this season though.

It's true, unbelievably.  One straight red against Sunderland.

Really poor today. No influence whatsoever on proceedings.

I felt he was having to cover too many areas. Pulling wide to cover lack of width and doing all the closing when Sanchez couldn't get close to anyone.

In all honesty this is nothing new. In the last 3 seasons Delph has been carrying the hod in midfield by himself for too often. Westwood has flattered to deceive. Cleverley was piss poor until Sherwood arrived (and we have missed him in the last couple of games) and Sanchez can't manage against quick, high tempo midfields (which is the majority of the league).

First order of business this summer is to buy 2 decent midfielders who are at the very least to Delph's level. And lets face it, Delph is a mid-table player.

Think Delph got in the England squad more because of his performances last season than this.  On his day he still an influencial player for us, but I don't think he has been anywhere near as good this season.  His goal scoring record needs to improve for a start.  Five or six goals rather than just the one could have been made a difference to us this season.  Also, thought he was dire for England the other night.

I think he tried his best to get us going and he was no worse than any of the others out there.
