Well Sherwood also said he told Delph's agent last year when he "bumped into him" that he wanted to buy him for Spurs. Which I suppose can mean a couple of things.

1.) Players get touched up all the time like this so they have a good idea about interest from other clubs.
2.) Sherwood made up the story because he, makes things up for the press.

I am fine with either, or both :)

Players get touched up all time ? Are they extending Operation Yewtree for this revelation?

Historically the rules do say a domestic club can't approach a player until the end of the contract but I doubt that's the case these days. It wouldn't be difficult to get round i.e. a club's acting agent talks about various scenarios with the player's agent. Technically the club hasn't approached the player.
I expect that's the case, but presumably the only way that the manager of Delph's employer is going to know about it to talk about it is if he's been approached officially.

If Sherwood knows that somebody else has been in touch with Delph or his representatives, then because he wasn't at the club before Delph signed his new contract then either Delph has told him about it or somebody else at the club has told him about it.

And if he knows that another club has offered Delph a contract without Villa's permission, then I assume we have filed our complaint with the FA rather than pissing around talking about it on Sky.

i said this yonks ago - start of last season i guess, but how have we not got a song for our quality, loyal, down to earth captain. loved his tackle today when he even managed to keep the ball in too...

We seriously need to acknowledge him individually, amazed those more creative types haven't come up with something that's stuck.

Come on, ideas? a new thread for this even? needs sorting!!!

He was excellent yesterday again and I'm thoroughly looking forward to watching him lift the cup in May.

Wary of reinventing the wheel (or having the talent to) a bit of googling for delph chants,

3 most likely to re-surface & stick i've found:

Nanananananananan Fabian Fabian Delph Fabian Delph Fabian Fabian Delph  (a la darren bent)

Ole Ole Ole Ole Fabian Delph Delph Delph Fabian Delph Delph Delph.

Fabian Delph,
Fabian Delph,
Fabian Delph,
Fabian Delph...
as per this version http://m.fanchants.com/football-songs/leeds-chants/fabian-delph-lufc/   ?

I might lean towards the last one as it can go on a long time and, well given this guys' loyalty to us i'll never have a problem dragging it out...

What do people think?

-----

below is other stuff i dug up:

also from leeds it was

He passes like Jazinho
He shoots like Ronaldinho
He's better than Robinho
Its fabulous Fabian Delph,
Fabian Delph,
Fabian Delph,
Fabian Delph...

He tackles and he passes, he hassles and harasses, he gets up people's asses, he's better than Gerrard...FABIAN DELPH *clap*clap* FABIAN DELPH *clap*clap* FABIAN DELPH, FABIAN DELPH, FABIAN DELPH *clap*clap*

And now Delph's back it's about time for a bit of all byself:
 Faaaaabbbbiiiaaaannnnn Deeeeeeelph
 I wanna be Faaabbiiiiaaannn Deeeeelph
I would score

In patches I thought. Gave the ball away quite a bit, especially first half and did his usual iffy challenges.
