In that case Trefor (Trevor) Ford,

Eric Houghton

and John Devey or it might be Charlie Arrowsmith

Billy Walker
Pongo Waring
Harry Hampton
Dai Astley
Peter McParland
Johnny Dixon
Tony Hateley

and possibly Joe Bache

Apparently we've only had 7 players in the history of our club hit 20 a season 3 or more times and you've named 4 of them Ron.

Walker
Pongo Waring
Hampton
Astley

And John Devey. I'm stumped for the others. (I looked at Harry Hampton's record, and he topped 20 goals eight times!)

From players with 20 goals to looking like we won't manage it with the whole team. Sigh.

Devey, Houghton and Withe, fitting that the man who scored our greatest ever goal should be on such a short list.

During the last 80 years we've only had Withe score 20+ for more than 2 years, why is that?

Because there aren't many players who've been here long enough to have three successful season.

Withe's best was 1983-84. That's a surprise isn't it?

Benteke
Angel
Yorke
Platt
McInally
Stainrod! He scored a shitload in the LC!
Withe
Shaw
Gray
Little

This is it. The last 10 Villa players to score 20 goals in a season includes super Simon Stainrod, he got 10 in the league 9 in the League Cup (4 against Exeter) and 2 in the Fa Cup.

Nigel got 9/10 first time so he's proven he's a better Villa fan than YOU!

Here's one for the older fans. How many players can you name that have scored 20 or more goals in a season at least 3 times for the Villa. The list is not big.

I have to be honest and say that I noticed PWS's 9, I was certain that Deehan didn't manage 20, so that really gave me a bit of a template to work with.
Never gave Stainrod a thought.
I reckon that Hateley would be the 11th on that list.

Still, it's in black and white that I'm the best fan, and no one can take that away from me  :P

11th I think is Ray Graydon, then Andy Lochhead in the air.

I genuinely don't know the answer to this but which Villa has the best goals to games ratio? I would guess at Harold Halse but I'm not sure.

Probably was Halse. We got him for £750 stayed for one season.Scored five in a match against Derby. Played for England once (and scored twice!) and won medals galore in the league and cup. Must have been some player!

I guess it would depend on a minimum amount of goals or games played. Pongo Waring can't be far off 162 goals in 225 games, all competitions 0.72 goals per game.

Harry Hampton 247 goals in 375 games at 0.65 goals per game. Halse hit 28 in 36 at 0.77.

If anyone is interested in old stats there's two websites that are pretty interesting
