Fewest goals in a PL season Derby 2007/08 with 20.

Fewest goals in the old first division Stoke City 1984/85 with 24.  That was 42 games.

Fewest goals at home in a PL season Manchester City 2006/07 with 10.

Fewest goals away from home in a PL season 8 goals record held by four teams:
Middlesbrough 1995/96
Southampton 1998/99
Sheffield United 2006/07
Derby County 2007/08

I'm genuinely amazed we get the crowds we do at VP considering the dross we've endured over the last few seasons.

Was our previous 'lowest goals scored' record mentioned on page 1 over 38 games?  Don't know if it really matters but just wondered how long ago it was.

I've just worked out that in the calendar year of 2014, those of us in the Holte have seen us stick 6 goals in that end in the entire year (including cup ties).

Beyond shocking

Being a sad stato type, I've been keeping track of various stats based on rolling 38, 19 and 10 game averages.

At the start of the season, the 38 game total said 39 goals, 19 game prediction said 44 goals and 10 game prediction said 30 goals.

Now the 38 game total is down to 32, the 19 game prediction says 20 goals and the 10 game prediction says 23 goals.

I'll go for late April. Fun it ain't.

Good man.  Don't hold back on the Standard Deviations, Moving Averages, Fibonaccis and Stochastics.

We are hungry for charts here at Hero Hedged Villains.

Statistical series are us.

At least the points prognosis is pointing to the positive. (We should scrape our way to 40 points.)

There is a calendar year league table on BBC today showing us as 3rd bottom, above Hull and Albion, with a goal difference of -26. For consistency, that excludes the promoted sides who have only played 19 top flight games, so you would hope they would each be below us over a full season, but it is not exactly reassuring.

It's pretty embarrassing that normally you talk about the ideal in football of having a 20 goal a season striker, but with Villa we're struggling to score that as a team.
