Aston Villa in the FA Vase next week
« on: October 24, 2014, 01:15:30 PM »
How low have we sunk to resort to the FA Vase?

Quote
Aston Villa have been mistaken for a local non league team.

Paul Lambert's men have been listed to play away at Pegasus Junior in the first round proper of the FA Vase the weekend after next on a leading football fixtures website.

But fear not Villa fans, the claret and blues do not have a cup tie in non league football's knockout competition crammed in between Premier League matches against Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham.

It is simply a case of mistaken identity on www.soccerbase.com which has got Aston Villa mixed up with Aston FC of Midland Football League Division Two.

Aston FC are the ones who play away at Pegasus Juniors in the Vase on Saturday, November 1.

The day after Aston FC contend with the slope at Old School Lane in Hereford against Pegasus, Aston Villa will play on the pristine surface of Villa Park against Spurs.

Aston FC are currently top of Midland League Two after winning five and drawing six of their 11 games so far this season, scoring 27 goals and conceding 12.

Aston Villa, who are 12th in the Premier League, hosted the FA Vase final at Villa Park in 2001 and 2002.

I think that looks like a website I go on, layout wise.

Either Statto or Soccerbase I reckon.

I reckon we're gonna smash em.

More Villa there than Pegasus Junior fans and loads of "My garden shed" chants.

Soccerbase. Clue besides how it looks is the article saying "It is simply a case of mistaken identity on www.soccerbase.com which has got Aston Villa mixed up with Aston FC of Midland Football League Division Two."  ;D

I use Soccerbase a fair bit, decent site.

Typical of the way the fixtures treat us...would Chelsea put up with playing two first team fixtures on consecutive days? ....Ha, I think not.
Outrage.

Would we manage more than one shot on target?

After our recent exploits in the cups against lower league opposition they must be rubbing their hands together.

I assume Lambert won't take this seriously and will put out a weakened side.

Would you risk starting Grealish against this bunch of cloggers? And Bent still won't score.

Yet another loss to lower league opposition in spite of Lambert starting with Weimann, Gabby, Benteke, Bent, Kozak, Robinson and Burke.

No. And we'd have 40% possession.
