Who is this bloke?

Does he know anything about villa or football for that matter?

Last report on site states the following:

Aston Villa: 5 things we learned from Villa's fourth defeat on the spin at Everton

3) Ron Vlaar fitted back in with ease

It may seem strange to praise a defender when collectively the rearguard were a complete shambles. Vlaar had missed the past six weeks with a calf injury but he showed no signs of rustiness on his return. The skipper made some vital clearances and interceptions to keep the scores down.

4) Fabian Delph was sorely missed

Villa will have to get used to playing without Delph as he’s out for the next two months. The difference without him was alarming though. While Tom Cleverley grafted throughout there was little else of significant note to report on in the midfield.

5) Ross Barkley’s return is a boost for England

Villa fans you may be feeling blue. However there was one small positive from today’s defeat, if you’re English of course. The return of Barkley is great news for the England camp. He looked in good form despite it being his first game back. There’s more to come.

Whats this lad on about? I stayed for 75 minutes so unless in that last 15 Vlaar backflipped around anyone tell me what he did?

Here's the full article for those interested:

I don't think Vlaar was terrible but he certainly shouldn't be singled out for praise.  He's about right on the other 4 though.

Vlaar was (probably understandably) rusty. However given Senderos being injured, it's no surprised Lambert rush Vlaar in. To be honest neither he or Benteke should be starting right now. Neither looked very fit. But needs must I suppose.

The "Top Five Things ... " format doesn't lend itself to useful analysis of the match. Mat Kendrick usually gets lumbered with the task even though his job title has changed and he is no longer their Villa correspondent. He usually inserts a humorous point or two to show the tone of the thing.

This obsession with lists is a sad sign of the times, in which the readership is too busy to read a proper article and wants information is small chunks. The tabloid version of the Independent is chock full of the fuckers.

I agree with all 5 points, though.

They're not going to get match fit by being sat on the bench.

Thought Vlaar was on a par with most of the other players - a bit shit - "with ease"?
Couldn't give a shit about Barkley or England.

I remember now all the Everton fans being delighted when we scored a last minute winner there because Ashley Young was English.

Oh no, my mistake, they moaned like over-tired two year olds for about three seasons.

OK. Let's give this a try.

Imagine you are a journo and the your editor comes strolling in and says "Could you do the 5 Things You've Learned  about Villa bollox , matey? Matt has gone for a manicure. Shouldn't take longer than 15 mins, a chap of your cal eye burr!".

What would be the five things you learned?

The first person to write Villa are shit 5 times, or variants thereof,  will be awarded The GregNash Memorial Prize, a signed photo of The Blessed Martin.

Has Kendrick been sacked then or is he reporting on another team?

He's head of digital things, or similar.

Gregg is a friend of mine. He is an Albion fan which probably explains a lot.
