I prefer them not to celebrate. You've already done all you need to for your present club by scoring in the first place.

The most stupid one was when Holi whatshisname from Norwich who we nearly signed didn't celebrate when he scored against us last season

I think that was a protest against Norwich rather than any respect for Villa.

He had spent most of the previous week slagging them off in the press, so it wouldn't have been a big surprise if he'd not wanted to seem overjoyed for them to be doing well.

Hoolihan was definitely protesting. Lampard is very good media wise and diplomatically praised Chelsea and City after the game. I am pretty sure that it was actually a Small Heath win that relegated United rather than Denis Law. The celebration I always remember was Mark Walters break dance in front of the Holte when he put them 1-0 up in the Ronnie Rosenthal game.

There was probably an element of not celebrating v Lambert to be honest. Nothing to do with villa.

Lamps celebrated when he scored for Chelsea against West Ham. Ran towards the 'Ammers fans to wind them up and ended up getting a pile of small change chucked at him

Not celebrating a goal against your old team is as self indulgent as 'retiring' from international football. I cringe when football commentators praise the action as some sort of saintly act. Who gives a toss?

I don't have a problem with players not celebrating against teams they've had a long connection with. Yesterday for instance I don't have a problem with Lampard not celebrating as he'd been a Chelsea for years, so I can understand that.

Yes, and we got him into the Guiness Book of World Records for amount of wanker signs aimed at one person - a record famously broken 12 minutes later at the same end by Ronnie Rosenthal

The Lukaku one the other week was ridiculous. He was there on loan for one season. It would be as silly as Kyle Walker sitting on his hands if he scored for Spurs against us.

As
Lamps celebrated when he scored for Chelsea against West Ham. Ran towards the 'Ammers fans to wind them up and ended up getting a pile of small change chucked at him

That just about sums it up.  Of course he'll say then it was more to do with how the club had treated Frank Senior when he was assistant to 'Arry.  However, I'd have thought for the sake of consistency you'd show as much respect for the club that gave you the chance in professional football as the one that made you a multimillionaire.

As has been said, in reality it's just another made-for-TV cliched celebration, just like the "My-WAG's-just-had-a-baby" cradle rocking, badge kissing or slogan hand-written on the T-shirt.

Lampard was there a very long time and wasn't he top premiership scorer or something? He did only leave a few months ago so i can understand it.

But he did choose to sign for chelskis title rivals so he can't have it both ways.

Every goal should be celebrated.  Including own goals.

Every goal should be celebrated.  Including own goals.

Especially if they are this good!

The own goal condemned Manchester City to relegation to the third tier for the first time, whilst keeping QPR in the division. As a result, a group of QPR fans thanked him by voting him the "most influential man of the past 2,000 years" in an internet poll, where "Jesus came second, apparently."

Why are fans forums running polls about most influential people over a 2000 year period? Football was invented in 1992 after all.
