The BBC Loves Us.
« on: September 20, 2014, 09:13:20 AM »
Got up at 7.30 this morning put 5Live on and in the last hour and half they've talked about us three times.
A Pat Murphy interview with Hutton.
BFR on our start.
Somebody else talking about the Keane effect.
Still to come Hutton is on Football Focus at lunch time.
Then the match is live on 5live.
All we need now is for us to be first on Match Of The Day.

Don't get too excited TLP - it won't last!

If we win today they will probably initiate an enquiry into how we dare achieve good results against the Skywank Superteams, bring all of our honest endeavours into disrepute and we will be banned for ever!

I heard Ellie Oldroyd talking to the Football Focus bloke (Dan something ?) and was shocked to hear that they had an interview with the Scottish Cafu. His turnaround has been incredible.

To me this is the whole debate about media coverage. If you are worth it they'll cover you. For too long we have been a minor story in the PL popping up now and again due to controversy generally of our own making. But just like when we were last doing well under MON we started to see stories that put us in a good light. I genuinely think that journalists want to write about other clubs because writing about the same few top clubs over and again must get a bit boring. But stories like Hutton's tattoos or Richardson's place in life, while not earth shatteringly important, are just a bit different and interesting in their own way and a welcome change to the ongoing "strife" at Man U or Arsenal.

Im with this guy ^^^

Undoubtedly, we are often ignored or patronised by the media but ultimately 'lower/mid table side plays poorly, again' isn't much of a story.  If we start playing really exiting football and winning games then the meeedja will pay more attention - see the 12 month wankfest over Southampton (not the best supported or most fashionable club).

Not that we should care about what the press says, but it is nice to read articles about your own club for once.

Some fans moan when their club don't get the covenge they deserve, but I think Villa perform better when we don't get the hype machine behind us.   There has been some good Guardian articles on us recently though.  The Richardson interview in today's sports section was another good one.

Lineker burst the BBC Villa love-in on MOTD with that quip about the Villa virus only lasting three and a half minutes. One of jugears smarter jokes in fairness.

I'd like to like Lineker - he's considered a bit of a nice chap in the household - but almost every week when he opens his gob once too often he continues to convince me he is a complete, smug, self-important twat.

Nothing personal.

I've no idea why.

Experience teaches me it'll be because he's a rotten, selfish pro-war scumbag.

I may be wrong but from memory, Lineker may not have ever scored at Villa Park ?
That's probably a good enough reason for him not to like us

Don't think he did.
