Selhurst Park. V Palace & Charlton & Wimbledon. Struggling to remember any wins. BFR and Brian Little both lost heir jobs abruptly after defeats there.

Apart from the Dalian game I totally agree. In fact if I was a mod I would have posted SELHURST PARK and just closed the thread after that. Charlton as good as relegating us, Garry Thompson derailing our title bid and a Vinnie Jones penalty knocking us out of a midweek FA cup replay. Nightmare journey and when you are right by the ground nobody seems to know how to direct you there. My thirteen year old son knows all about my 'love' for that ground. If he annoys me I threaten to take him there!

It was very strange when for a time in the late eighties/early nineties we seemed to win almost every time we played north of the river and lose over the water.

I agree Dave. I don't think I ever saw us lose at White Hart Lane in those years. Including when we gave them a two goal lead and won 2-5 and the night under SGT when I walked away convinced we would win the title. My memories of Highbury are the 2-3 when McInally scored a couple, 0-1 wins courtesy of Chris Price and Tony Daley and a goaless draw under BFR. There was however a 5-0 when David Platt ended up in goal and I think Kevin Campbell got a hat trick.

three straight wins at Highbury in 1993, two 1-0's (Daley 1-0 and Atkinson 1-0 cup game) plus a last minute 2-1 victory (Townsend and Whittingham). White Hart Lane was a happy ground too, 2-0 in 90, 5-2 in BFR first year, 2-1 and 4-3 in 1994, 1-0 in 1995. Amazing to think how poor our record at WHL is now when for a while we were their big bogey side.

And meanwhile we were getting turned over regularly by Palace, Charlton, Millwall and Wimbledon.

Notts County was a particularly bad ground for us in the early 1980's, apart from when we beat them 6-0 in the FA cup. We then went back there in the league a few days later and lost again. Wretched place that was.

I remember when we had an amazing record v spurs. Twice we were 2-0 down and went on to win 5-2. I think the second time we scored 5 in the last 20 minutes.

Then as spurs got better under redknapp we just couldn't beat them. I can't remember the last time we did? They normally completely outclass us too. Under mon they murdered us 0-0 a couple of times

I think it's why we have been so poor at home of late. Visitors are up for it and we haven't been good enough.

4-2 was the lots of goals late in the game and after a penalty it seemed we were having our own goal of the season contest.

Selhurst Park. even the name makes me shudder. i can now see it from my bedroom window. Like black people and the 'n' word I have decided that Selhurst Park offends me so much that I've moved here to own the offensive thing. I'll be able to use it as a jokey word with other Villa fans and thus detracting from what it actually has meant for years. Selhurst Park will be pwned (or whatever the kids say) this season.

As already mentioned, Ayresome and Selhurst Parks come most readily to mind for me. St Marys for a while too. And Upton Park. Though I suspect those last two are figments of my imagination

Dalian's goal v Wimbledon was at Plough Lane.

Without checking, I think the only time we won at Plough Lane was in 1989-90. We also beat Charlton that season at Selhurst and beats Wimbledon there in 1992-93.

Dalians's goal was definitely at Selhurst. I only went to Plough Lane once and that was for a 0-0 under Dr Jo. It is a shame that I went to Selhurst so many times. So many hours of my life I will never get back and so much energy drained from my soul.
