Quite a few Villa fans applauded that one.

I am the same. I tend to blank them from my memory. But I do remember the Ruddock goal for Millwall in the cup being very good and then a few months later the Ince goal for West Ham.

Villa dominate the game for 89 minutes (seemed that way)
Torquay make a break away, and Jimmy Cave sticks it in the back of the net from 25 yards

Was that the one we won 5-1? Brian Little's debut?

I just watched that Jansen goal. Kept watching and the Athletic Madrid game came on, we battered them at Villa Park the place was rocking!

Wow- that's the goal I always quote as the best I've seen against us- thought it was false memory syndrome! I think his name was Mickey Cave. It was a top five match in our first season in the third and ,I think, Dick Edwards was playing against us.You are right we were all over them and then Cave just hit one of the hardest shots I recall from distance and, viewed through the Witton End railings, it hardly raised above grass level before hitting the net in front of the Holte.

Only opposition goal I can ever remember applauding was Helsingborg. And that was done sarcastically.

Most comical goal I remember was Norwich at home, 1994-95 season. They have a corner, Bosnich comes for it with no chance of winning, misses it, Norwich player hits the post, Kevin Richardson clears it, Norwich player hits the bar, Villa player clears it, tremendous scramble before Norwich player scores finally from header.

Le Tissier at Villa park. He took on about 3 players and spanked it in the top corner. He scored a few at VP though, so finding which brilliant one might be tough.

Was late on. And another one of those moments when I said about 3 seconds before oh fuck hes gonna spank this in. See Sherwood for Spurs as an other example of such.

I will pick two. Brian McDermott and Willie Young both for Arsenal. No idea now if they were taps in, headers, or 30 yard screamers. Frankly, who cares ?
