Football Aid - Dream Come True
« on: August 30, 2014, 11:16:49 AM »
Think this may have been mentioned on here somewhere before but thought I would just put this on for anyone who didn't know about it.

Football Aid is a charity that gives fans the chance to play at the ground of their teams (full matchday experience, kit/dressing rooms/warm up/90 minute game with ex Villa player in each team)

I played this year and although I played like an arse (50 now and the legs and touch have gone) I scored at the Holte End, it was one of the best feelings ever, I even have a video clip to prove it (the people at work are already fed up of seeing it).

Just thought it worth a mention, they will soon be advertising places for next season and from personal experience I would recommend it to anyone, it was a truly brilliant experience.

You scored at The Holte End? Mr. Lambert if you're reading this get him on loan 'til Benteke comes back. :)

I played in May and I bet you that Benteke was walking better on crutches than I did for the next six weeks! I will never play again but it was a great way to finish.

How much does it cost?

It depends on which position or team you want to play for, there are home and away options plus 45 or 90 minutes and you can either bid or buy it now. I had saved up for mine to do it as part of my 50th birthday year and it cost my £550 which is he'll of a lot of money but as a one off experience it was worth every penny. You get full kit with your name on which you keep and they do a great job of taking loads of photos (plus they film the game) so you get to keep quite a few souvenirs of the day. Martin Laurssen played in the second game this year.

I didn't want the full DVD so the bloke who does the filming did me a clip of my goal (I would put it on here if I knew how but I am clueless on this sort of thing).

It is well worth doing if you have the money/chance, I wish I had done it when I was younger and more able to still play.
