Questions From Newcastle Fans
« on: August 19, 2014, 12:26:03 AM »
Hi again guys. A new season is here and we are continuing to ask opposition fans questions to use in our pre match build up. We hope to get as good a response as we got here twice last season. The questions are:

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs?
3 – What young players could make an impact?
4 – Who is your most important player?
5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club?
6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why?
7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make?
8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward?
9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make?
10 - What do you think the score will be?

Thanks in advance!

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? Villa 11th, Newcastle 13th
2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs? Sanchez for Villa, Cabella for you
3 – What young players could make an impact? While Okore will force his way into being a top player at Villa, everyone is really encouraged by Jack Grealish
4 – Who is your most important player? Vlaar now, Benteke by the end of the season
5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club? Dark grey clouds breaking, sun trying to come through
6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why? The best I can do is Jack Wilshere. A player with loads of potential, some flashes of brilliance but lets himself down with inconsistency and stupid acts too often.
7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make? I think he'll be a very stabilizing force and bring tremendous confidence to the players.
8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward? Not sure. He's here and I'm willing to give him another opportunity to prove himself. He can't be that bad if so many of us wanted him in the beginning.
9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make? It will give us proper strength in depth and much needed experience.
10 - What do you think the score will be? 2-1 Villa

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
Just top half for you lot, just bottom half for us.

2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs?
That Riviere lad looks sharp for you lot. Send him to a barber though. For us, so far, it has been Senderos, I don't think anybody expected that.

3 – What young players could make an impact?
Grealish for us, maybe Gardner. Don't know enough about Newcastle youth, sorry.

4 – Who is your most important player?
Benteke. But playing against you, Vlaar.

5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club?

6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why?
Valderrama. Why not?

7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make?
Too early to say. So far it has been ace seeing him get angry in the technical area though.

8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward?
I still like him. Results have been really poor though. I keep thinking he will come good.

9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make?
A lot. Hutton & Zog in particular have impressed during pre season. We will need a hungry Darren Bent until Kozak & Tekkers come back.

10 - What do you think the score will be?
No idea.

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?      Villa 15th  Newcastle 10th
2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs? Sanchez for Villa, Cabella for you. Not a new signing but almost like one after two seasons out in the cold, Alan Hutton, not a v popular player before but could and should add the bite and nastiness we've missed for two years.
3 – What young players could make an impact?    Jack Grealish, Gary Gardner
4 – Who is your most important player?   Benteke
5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club?  Theres a photo of Andi Weimann celebrating his winner vs Man City last season in front of the Holte End. Its the reaction of the fans in the shot I love. We beat the champions elect, only one of 10 league games we did win, we lost 10 games at home, but in that instant, look at the reaction of those fans to that goal. It means everything.  Delight and exultation one minute yet we can be suicidal and despondant at other times. That's Aston Villa for you.
6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why?  Fernando Torres. Undeniably classy but is in need of special attention and hasn't been a force or of significance to anyone else for several years.
7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make?  I think he should inspire a lot more passion in the team and i wouldn't want to fuck up in front of him that's for sure. I can also see him being manager by the end of the season should Lambert struggle again.
8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward? I think he's the worst boss we've had since I've been following the Villa since 1988. Ok we won on Saturday but we've had two seasons of records broken, none of them positive. He's been tactically inept, his teams have generally been awful to watch with the exception of a couple of months at back end of 2012-13 season, and his post match interviews often indicate he's been watching a different match to 99.9% of the Villa fans in attendance. If he does well this season, great, it would be interesting to see how he would get on if the club started spending mega amounts  but he generally hasn't had  too much luck with many of his signings so far barring one or two. He needs to improve the home record which is appalling. His tactics and formations at home have been very negative. We've been lousy at keeping the ball and if you keep giving the ball away the other side will more often than not punish you.
9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make? Strength in depth. They've all done well for other clubs as well as in patches for us. Bent is a proven goalscorer and if we he plays and has the right service he could score just as many as a motivated and fully fit Benteke. We've been a nicey nicey side for two years, hopefully Hutton can add a bit more steel to us.
10 - The score? With the exception of when O' Neill was our boss, I cant think of too many wins vs the Toon at home, you have definitely been a bogey side. Our home record has been average for many years and shockingly awful for the last three seasons so it will be interesting to see what approach Lambert takes this year. 1-1 draw but wouldn't be surprised if we are shockingly bad and lose.

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
= 12th us, 9th you
2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs?
= La Roca us, Cabella you
3 – What young players could make an impact?
= Grealish
4 – Who is your most important player?
= Benteke
5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club?
= Well a week ago i would have said the end of Terminator 2, Arnie giving a thumbs up just before he's completely melted. Now maybe the red eye coming back on.
6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why?
I like 2 of the previous answers in Wilshere and Torres, so see above.
7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make?
= Love how scary he looks. Beard works. Apparently they like him so all in all positive.
8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward?
= I know people will say 'tight budget' etc but that doesn't explain how tactically inept he's been. So no.
9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make?
A big one. Especially Hutton (the best RB in the world)
10 - What do you think the score will be?
4-1. Zog hatrick.

Hi again guys. A new season is here and we are continuing to ask opposition fans questions to use in our pre match build up. We hope to get as good a response as we got here twice last season. The questions are:

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? About 15th. About 10th.
2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs? Not sure on either to be fair. Smallest for us I think will be Joe Cole
3 – What young players could make an impact? Gralish is being talked up a lot down our way. Kozak if he comes back strong from injury
4 – Who is your most important player? Guzan, Vlaar, Delph and Benteke in equal measure.
5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club? The last 4 years is like the one in Clockwork Orange when he is being mind corrected.
6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why? Michel Platini - someone who used to be great but has become a little bit of a discredited figure
7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make? Can only be an improvement on Carsa / Culverhouse. And a ready made cheap replacement in the event of another poor season.
8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward? No idea if anyone could do better. And the people employed to recruit such a figure have proved consistently not to be very good at this job, though thankfully Faulkner has gone and would have no say this time.
9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make? Added experience I suppose. Given and Bent are well past their best. Hutton and CNZ owe us big style.
10 - What do you think the score will be? 1-2

Thanks in advance!

1 - Villa 13th, Newcastle 10th
2 - Villa Carlos Sanchez and Joe Cole. Sanchez looks the midfielder we have needed for about four years. Cole will love our medical facilites. Newcastle, don't really know. Maybe De Jong will do well
3 - Grealish looks promising. Would also like to see Gary Gardner get some game time too.
4. Benteke, comfortably. That will be playing on Saturday? Any one from Delph, Vlaar or Guzan. I think Agbonlahor is important to us as well
5 - Deano's Mullet nails it for me, above.
6 - Dimitar Berbatov. Capable of anything, but doesn't always show it.
7 - I'd hope he brings a togetherness to the squad and both him and Lambert are winners. We'll see
8 - He's doing a difficult job, and in our current state, id be concerned about the list of applicants should he be releived of his duties. Unless we were certain we could get better, I'd stick with him.
9 - Better they actually earn some money by playing and contributing than not. They are all decent premier league players  on their day
10 - 2-1 to Villa in a really good game, looking forward to it

1. Both clubs are in amongst a group that will finish between 8th and 18th.
2. Sanchez, i'm hoping will be a big improvement. Don't know about your squad.
3. Grealish from the ranks and hopefully Okore can regain full fitness and show us what we've been hoping to see for the past twelve months.
4. Most important player would probably be Vlaar. Captain and our best defender.
5. For the past four years it's been akin to The scream.
6. Matt Le Tissier. Capable of competing at the top level if pushed.
7. Straight talking and a competitive edge.
8. I think he's been working with one hand tied but he has to oversee a far better home record this season, in both performance and results or that's his time done.
9. N'Zogbia if he actually fancies it brings a touch of quality to a squad which lacks flair. Given, experience on the bench. Hutton, again experience. Bent brings goals to the party. Plenty talk about what he doesn't do but he could prove to be a real gem by nicking us a few goals.
10. 3-1. For no other reason than blind optimism.

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? Us 16th, you 8th.
2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs? Sanchez for us, Cabella for you.
3 – What young players could make an impact? Okore has the potential to be a monster CB in this league. Grealish looks promising too.
4 – Who is your most important player? Benteke. He's injured though, so probably Vlaar at the moment.
5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club? Dunno.
6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why? Not sure, maybe Adriano in the sense that he should've been a dominant force in the game.
7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make? He'll make us tougher to beat. Also, Pardew and Carver might think twice about jumping out of their seats to moan about a decision, so that's good.
8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward? No. Only here as Lerner is trying to sell the club.
9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make? N'Zogbia and Hutton will be important players for us. The other two will be on the bench.
10 - What do you think the score will be? 1-1.

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
villa 15th. newcastle 11th.

2 – New signings you think will make the biggest/smallest impact for both clubs?
hopefully sanchez for us, given he has been the biggest dent in a very limited budget. cabella for you lot.

3 – What young players could make an impact?
grealish.

4 – Who is your most important player?
vlaar. our captain, marshalls the defence, had a brilliant world cup. then delph. both players in the last year of their contract and the club needs to wake up and keep them.

5 – Which one picture relating to Villa encapsulates how you feel about your club?
when lerner finds a buyer:

6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why?
would have been michael owen. stealing a living on past glories.

7 - What sort of impact do you feel Roy Keane has/will make?
think he will be a good coach. he'll put a few noses out of joint with his blunt approach, but some of our guys need that.

8 - What are your thoughts on Lambert? Is he still the right man to take Villa forward?
has been dealt a tough hand. i don't think anyone would have done a better job with the constraints he has had.
shipping out some of his failed signings on loan, bringing players back into the fold and getting rid of his backroom staff, shows a man who is willing to hold his hands up and learn from his mistakes.
personally i admire him for sticking with it this season. would have been far easier to negotiate a pay-off and leave, but at the very least he will provide some continuity whilst the club is for sale, and the CEO has gone.

9 - Lambert has seemingly brought N'Zogbia, Hutton, Given and Bent in from the cold? How much of a difference can they make?
i think n'zogbia will surprise people on here and do well. given and bent will do nothing. hutton will be better than lowton was last season.

10 - What do you think the score will be?
1-1

with all due disrespect I have 10 questions for Newcastle fans.

1. Did you call yourselves the Toon Army when you used to bring 400 or so to Villa Park to rattle around the away end in the 80's?
2. Are you proud of your sponsors (before you ask, i'm not proud of ours)
3. Do you know a bloke called Steve who drinks in The Strawberry? He chinned me when I came up for that game in mid eighties (Tony Cunningham scored if I remember right).
4. Is Gascoigne well received / supported / regarded up there?
5. And Keegan?
6. What's bigger, Pardew's ego or Ashley's wallet?
7. What's been your lowest ebb in recent years? (Please say Villa Park when we relegated you! Ours was defeat to Bradford over 2 legs but we're spoilt for choice)
8. What happened to Willie McFaul?
9. Do you accept your also ran status or harbour designs (like us) of greatness to come?
10. Was Kilcline your worst ever signing?
