Injurywatch 2014-15
« on: August 09, 2014, 05:27:11 PM »
Thought it might be worthwhile having a single thread to keep tabs on various injuries to squad members throughout the season.

I predict Cole will feature prominently here.

So, anyone with a bit more info than me, fire ahead.

When is kozak back?
October ish

At the latest, both of our big guys up front are doing ball work in training, which means they're a fair way along their recovery.  I wouldn't be surprised to hear that 1 or both are back in full training in the next week or so, then give 3-4 weeks to get back to full fitness.  We could see one of them on the bench after the international break in early september.

Joe Cole back in training;

Paul Lambert has confirmed Joe Cole is back in training ahead of next week's Barclays Premier League opener against Stoke.

Cole, who joined Villa on a free transfer earlier this summer, has only featured once during pre-season after picking up a thigh injury.

The issue has kept him out of action since the friendly encounter at Mansfield on July 17.

Although Cole travelled to the USA for Villa's Texas tour, he missed both matches against FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo.

He was also unable to take part in the next three games against Chesterfield, Walsall and Parma.

But the 32-year-old midfielder has now resumed training with the rest of his team-mates.

"He is training now with the group, which is good," said the Villa manager.

"I know he has missed a wee bit but he is back training with the group. Everybody seems to be pretty healthy."

Gabby looked like he pulled up with a dodgy hamstring in the second half today.

No Gardner yesterday? injured? I think we will be lucky to get 1000 minutes on the pitch for Cole this season.

Players who are injury prone become more injury prone as they get older, not less.   It is cumulative.   We should not have gone anywhere near Cole.   Above all we need a settled midfield, if Cole plays at all he will be in and out of the side like a yo yo.   Lambert has a stubborn streak which means he will keep trying to shoe horn him into the side come what may.

If we get 500 minutes I'd be amazed.

Gardner played about 12 mins. He was ok didn't do anything spectacular but looked reasonably fit.

Arguably the three easiest games for us running right through to the end of autumn. If this is true, fantastic news!!!

I see this as another thread for people to be as down beat and doom and gloom as possible.   I could be wrong, but I don't think the Arsenal fans are starting up Injurywatch threads ;)
