2007-2010.

I think I should jack this work thing in and go back to being a student, we might get good again that way!

What halls were you in?

Hawthorns, just outside Madeley Heath. ;)

Did you know they're making a bbc film on that Neil Baldwin bloke, pretty sure he played for Stoke in a testimonial Villa participated in.

"Drinking in Stoke". That's one of the most demoralising thread titles I've seen on here.

Me and the wife are headed to the UK soon for a mates wedding, so thought we'd get involved with the opening day of the season whilst we're over! Train from New Street straight to Stoke, but where will the villa faithful be drinking? Apparently there's no pub action near the ground, so we'll be best off hitting the bars nearest the train station. Let us know where you're at :)

I'm quite impressed. I'm trying to imagine even suggesting to my wife that we go to watch villa play in Stoke on our holiday, never mind her saying yes!

Considering that the Stoke ground is in an industrial site with loads of parking on vacant ground, why don't we all "tailgate" instead ?

Legion can be in charge of the barbecue.

Cheers to FriendlyStokie, think the Glebe might be a good shout then. This'll be the wife's first "proper" football match - I told her in no uncertain terms that watching Emile Heskey play in Melbourne last season, did not count! We got our tickets a couple of weeks back, so all good on that front.

It's probably better than being sober in stoke

I can vouch for that. I was sober for the league game last December, due to illness. It wasn't pleasant.

I obviously don't know where you are originally from, but those of us who remember The Glebe pub in Birmingham will have smiled when you said "The Glebe might be a good shout then". Because believe me when I say it was not a phrase that I or any of my mates used in connection with the Birmingham version. It was 'lively'.

From my brief experience it's better than drinking in Solihull.

How easy it is to avoid being cajoled by the police to go in one particular direction? I will be looking to get in a taxi straight from the station and go elsewhere.

Couldn't this thread be merged with the death penalty thread in Off Topic?
