Phil McNulty was being his usual condescending and rude self with any Villa fan who queried this with him on Twitter yesterday. He said it was completely different, which is odd because his original article said:-

"Many Villa fans were on the pitch in jubilation but this misses the point entirely. This is still an offence..."

I'm wondering when the epithet 'plucky' will be removed from Bournemouth's name. My guess is October.

Someone on R5 said it was completely different too.

They're right, Bolton fans weren't hurtling broken seats at the home supporters.

I've always had a soft spot for Bournemouth, well ever since they thumped Blues twice and lost to us in the same season.

Eddie Howes managerial achievements are astonishing. Well done. He should stay on while they're in the Prem, and I'm sure a big move will be forthcoming in a years time.

I would have had Howe at Villa in a heartbeat. Still, I'm more than happy with the way it's working out with Sherwood.

Good on Bournemouth. Nice to see new faces in the Premier League - just hope we won't be making room for them.

Now, what are the odds on a Hull win this evening?

Probably worth a punt.

Sporting Lokeren are "hoping for a miracle" after Belgian defender Gregory Mertens collapsed on the pitch with a heart-related illness.
He is in a critical condition after being given CPR in the first half of Monday's reserve-team game with Genk.
The 24-year-old is in an induced coma in a Genk hospital on a life support machine.

"Sporting Lokeren sympathises with the family and hopes for a positive outcome," read a club statement.

The Jupiler Pro League club say that the exact nature of Mertens' heart condition has yet to be established.

They added that Mertens passed all the pre-season health tests required by Europe's football governing body Uefa and was judged to be one of the fittest players at the club.

A former Belgium Under-21 international, Mertens joined Lokeren in the summer from Cercle Brugge, and has played in 15 league games this term, as well as against Hull City in the Europa League in August.

Monday's game was postponed while Mertens was being treated.

Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois  and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku,  both Belgium internationals, have tweeted their support for Mertens, saying: "Keep fighting Gregory".

And the former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne tweeted:  "Incredibly bad news. Keep fighting Gregory."

Gutted if that's true. I was hoping (praying) that TS would find a way to bring Milner back to VP but I guess wages would have played a major stumbling block anyway.

The way things are going, and have gone for Milner, how long before he becomes known as: journeyman James Milner.  I know he's pocketed winners medals plus a gazillion quid but sadly, I think that is how he will become to be known.  Shame in a way, I liked him and thought he could have been a cornerstone of success for us. But, what do I know?
