Earl Barrett. Very harsh but saw photo of him holding the cup in 1994 and realised how quietly he got on with his job while the likes of Deano, Dalian, Richardson etc etc got all the headlines. He was brilliant at RB although arguably he was signed to replace God at centreback but God carried on for a few more years and outlasted him. Always remember Barrett scoring winner at Spurs in league cup run.

I recall the papers saying that he had a choice between us and Arsenal. Myself and a few mates (one of whom was Nev) bumped into him on the night he had signed for us. I remember a couple of us exchanging brief pleasantries with him in Rosies' nightclub in Solihull.

Alpay  - even SGT Mk 2 didn't recognise him when walking around the pitch at the end of the season...

SGT wrote back to me at the end of the season when I sent him a letter. He had asked the board to get rid of Alpay as he was toxic to have around but the board refused unless they received a fee for him. Fair to say that he didnt like him. I remember the fans booing him one time when he did usual pre-match roar to the Holte before the game. This was all after the England v Turkey game.
