Years ago I think I read somewhere, written by I think that biased northern hack David Meek Stan described as: Black Country, foul mouthed and limited. I thought then, and still do that Meek never got over the fact we beat his precious United in 1957 and that Stan had played in that match and he had difficulty in accepting that United had signed him. That, and the possibility that Stan may have told him to fuck off.

Being part of the hastily put together Man U team after the Munich disaster, he played in both the 1957 and 1958 FA Cup finals.RIP.
Stan was typical black country, didn't suffer fools gladly. Lived in the Bilston area. Stan and Pat Saward were the best two players on the pitch in the 57 final.Rest in Peace Stan.
I believe he also played for Chelsea, after leaving Manchester United.
