What happens to the old kit?
« on: May 27, 2014, 10:27:33 AM »
My 10 year old great nephew was asking me to take him to the new kit launch on June 14. When out of the blue he asked 'what do they do with the old kit?'
I told him it's something I'd never thought about, but I'd try to find out for him.
Thinking about it, even after the white tent sale there must be hundreds if not thousands of items left over.
So what does happen to the left over stock?
Is there a charity involved, is it recycled in some way or does it just go into a hole in the ground?

Doesn't it go to underprivileged kids or something like that?

Well the club sell a lot of the unsold/worn kit, I was down at Villa Park on Sunday for the very reason. Came away with an old pair of Sylla's shorts for a fiver. What made me laugh was that most of what was left was XL or XXL with the number 29 on, which of course is Grant Holt's.

I think there's a guy who posts on here who has donated a lot of Villa shirts to poor kids in parts of Africa and Asia. Not sure if that was done via the club though.

I did similar myself in The Gambia but it was via generous donations from Villa fans for the shirts as well as flags provided by the club.

On the basis that some people see wrong in everything that the club does I am surprised not to have seen a post yet alleging that Randy personally uses each piece of old kit to smother a new born kitten.
