As my Nan used to say, "he's trying too hard". He needs to relax, play further forward and start enjoying it

42,500 fine for sha for the attack, not exactly a massive deterrent to future idiots.

Nor an incentive for clubs to keep grounds secure.

I hope we don't have to spend the remainder of Jack's career blaming everybody around him for his lack of PL success/ability.

This really is time for him to prove he's got it at the top level. No excuses.

Didn't we get fined more than that for the WBA FA Cup pitch invasion?

Ridiculous

100% this.

He's waltzed into the PL with a new haircut, wage packet and plenty of media coverage. Unfortunately he's not turned up where it matters yet.

Fancy him getting a haircut. What a bastard.

I think the criticism as usual regarding Jack  is harsh, he still keeps wanting the ball and keeps  trying to make something happen.

He is playing in the wrong position and suffering because of it.

He's playing in the position he claims to prefer to play in

I don't know, a 42,500 fine might have the Blose owners scrabbling down the back of the sofa in desperation to raise the money to pay it. Times are hard for our lower class neighbours....

I think this thread is being massively skewed by the last 20-25 minutes. Before that he was easily the best player on the pitch, put in a couple of superb balls (the break and cross for Wes was beautiful) and was generally making us tick. Once they went down to 10 and we couldn't get hold of the ball it seemed to rest heavy on him and he was trying to do everything at the end. I also won't criticise him for not completing passes around the box, in a game of very few chances I want him playing 50/50 balls on the edge of the box trying to make things happen, that's what he's there to do. It won't always work but I want him to keep trying.

I agree Paul, I thought he played well last night, didn't work out in the end and the last 20 minutes it fell apart for the whole team. He won't be controlling games like he did last season due to the better opposition, but once we've settled down as a team, he'll only get better and better.

This stat sums up how important other teams think Jack is, even if some of us do not - Since the start of last season, Aston Villa's Jack Grealish has been fouled 179 times in league football (including play-offs), 49 more than any other player in the top four tiers.

Now imagine what he would be like if he wasn't fouled so much.

Why is him being fouled deemed an advantage?

I also thought he played well, just his passing in the second half deteriorated as the game went on. He always wants the ball, he works hard and tries to make things happen. So far this season he could have half a dozen assists to his name at least if wed have taken our chances. I do wish he would have a pop at goal once in a while like SJM does.
