Liam is right, Long is a tremendously over-rated player I think

The trouble is most Villa fans perspective is skewed on Long as he seemed to morph into a world beater against us.

He's certainly not worth 6m, either. Good bit of business, that.

Erm didn't you pay £7m for him

That was the overall figure but I think it was mainly clauses based.

I think the overall figure was around £4.5million - I think local media reported we may have made a profit on him.

Hi Liam, first chance Ive had to ask an Albion fan this, why on earth did you sell Shane Long ?

Hi.

Because he wasn't very good - he didn't want to stay and they offered us £6million. Daylight robbery.

It was about £5m they paid. They've never paid £7m for a player.

Wasn't he in his last few months as well? Although £6 mil has been bandied about, officially it was undisclosed and I would be surprised if they bid more then they did in the summer for someone going into his last 6 months unless Bruce was truly panicking.

It's worth remembering that the £3.5m they spent on Earnshaw in 2004 is still their 5th highest transfer. Anichebe and Sessegnon are the only players they've, officially, spent more than £5m on.

There has been a shambles of a season for the three clubs with a Birmingham post code. It would nice to be able to trot out the comforting cliche of "it can only get better" but we are football fans and we know that's a load of bollocks.

I would love to be able to switch off from it all and think about cricket for a couple of months but there are so many loose ends it's bound to drag on for weeks.

For all the criticism of Peace, and there is lots of valid ones, he does seem to be able to get players in cheap and sell them high.

Shane Long is still better than what they have. Vydra, Anchiebe, Sess and Berahino, just not enough goals there and they've lost their defensive solidity under Clarke.

The money they got for Kamara was way ott. Although looking it up, they've only sold 5 players for £5m or more. Curtis, Kamara, Long, Koumas, Hughes.
Is that right Liam?

We should all move to London, Manchester or Liverpool, then we'll be happy.

Happy?  Surrounded by cockneys, mancs or scousers forever banging on about how great their teams, cities, bands etc are?  Couldn't think of anything worse!!

You speak sense.

What a horrible anus of a season.

The Baggies should never have sacked Steve Clarke. We should have sacked Lambert. Birmingham are in a terrible mess. No manager stands a chance there until someone gets control of the club out of Yeung's tainted palms.
