It's not just the points though, it's the level of play.
In summer of 1990 after a year of struggle we gained Ron Atkinson, signed Rico, Dalian, Staunton and the next couple of years were a joy.In summer of 1995 after a year of struggle we had Sir Brian, signed Southgate, Draper and Savo and the next couple of years were a joy.In summer of 2006 after a year of struggle we had MON, moneybags Randy and eventually signed Petrov, Carew, and Ashley Young and next couple of years were a joy. In summer of 2014 after 3 years of struggle ........................................... who knows?
Unless there are serious changes in the summer at board, managerial and playing level, we will most probably be relegated.

We are on death row - last 2 seasons have been a stay of execution (relegation) and unless big changes we are dead and buried next year.
I actually think we could turn around the momentum of the club, from dropping like a stone to securing mid table, by signing one or two proper, decent players. It would just give the players/fans/staff a message that we aren't prepared just to drift down the league and out of the division and not give a fuck. Currently we're like playing with a baloon with all the air let out, pointless and not a lot of fun.

My point is, as shit as we've been most of the season, we were actually safe this season after 29 games, on the 15th March. You have to be staggeringly shit to go down.
