At one point under MoN, we were the dead ball specialists of the prem. Now?

Nobody make s a run to the near post. Ever. The opposition know thay don;t have to bother with defending the possibility, as we will loft it to the big man who is standing dead central and patiently waiting for it to drop on his noggin. The big man may as well sway back and forth building up neck strength.

Nobody stand on the goalkeeper's toes and twists his scrotum whispering sweet nothings in his ear.

Nobody make an early run or a late run or any sort of run.

When all is said and done, nobody does anything, and it is a waste of everybody's time.
Because then we had Asley Young, Ollie, and Martin Laursen, now we`ve got.......i feel sick....

Aggression. That's what we are missing from corners. Melburg,Laursen,Chris Nichol.Allan Evans had it as central defenders. Trevor Ford,Andy Gray,Peter Withe and Big Tone had it as forwards. Dougan and Collymore did not. Benteke doesnt have it although he does win a lot of headers in other areas of the pitch. But there is no point in the current central defenders coming up for corners if they dont get stuck in and win the ball.

We scored a couple last season from corners, Benteke against Sunderland and Reading at home.
We was a joke at defending set plays last season, and to a lesser extent earlier this season, two goals at home to Man City and Ivanovic's winner at Stamford Bridge.

Baker made the near post run at the weekend in fairness. He did however, rather than get the mayhem causing flick, square on full bloodied nut the ball straight out of play towards the corner flag. A true skill that one.

Throws and corners. Dread them!

Oh that foul throw by Weimann saturday had me screaming!

So we are scraping together a collection of three, maybe four good corners in two seasons... remember when a corner was a goal scoring chance and it created a bit of excitement!

Defensive corners aren't as scary as they were a couple of seasons ago, when cries of "Cornalty" were heard

Quite, our centre halves haven't scored from a corner under Lambert, nearly 2 full seasons.

The last times for these was when Laursen was still playing and Young used to actually deliver decent balls in. The same time Laursen went also coincided with Young forgetting what a whipped cross was.

Another element of the overall game where we are shite. What the shell DO they work on in training?

Pointing.

I must admit that the pointing is pretty impressive.

it would be even more impressive if anyone took any notice and reacted to the point
