I just put avfc bomb squad in that search engine that rhymes with noodle, poodle, strudel & doodle and only got 1,260,000 results, wtf.
Yes, the words 'bomb' and 'squad' are quite common in the English language.

What about "The Bomb Gang Girlz"; the backing singers for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult ?

Literally the only thing I know about that band is that they had a song called "A Daisy Chain for Satan."

TTK's first two albums are excellent.

I've all their releases (some on vinyl)

I think that all bombs have been temporarily defused by sending them out on loan.

However, if today's quotes are correct, Sylla might be starting the new squad.

I think come next season, if we get a half decent new manager, our bomb squad will probably be made up of 80% of our senior players. There's so much dross its frightening.

Thank you for the replies

So basically the "bomb squad" are a group of players who have been given a chance and failed to take it.

Fair comment or not?

If so why are so many people making such an issue out of it?

It's more accurate to describe it as composed of permanently out-of-favour players.

I'll answer your question with a few questions.

Was Bent given a chance to play in place of Benteke?

Without question.  Does he deserve to start ahead of Benteke?  No

Does he deserve to be on the bench ahead of the likes of Jordan Flaming Bowery?  Most definitely.

Ditto Given and Steer.  Guzan came in and deserved to keep his place, but paying Given £60k a week and not even having him on the bench might -in some quarters- be considered a waste of resources.  Particularly when the above two are renowned for being good pros and have never caused bother at their previous clubs.

I'm going to reluctantly ditto Hutton too. We paid eye watering money for him and are paying his reported 40k p/w wages. His total abandonment serves nothing other than to run his value down, it's wasteful.

I'd be more confident with Bent in the first team at the moment.

It was just the over paid players left over by the MON era like Hutton, Habib Beye (sp), Dunne, Warnock (I think), Shay Given, Collins... I forget the exact details and names were debated. Just look at any player brought in the MON regime and if they were over paid, useless, problematic and not fit for the current team then they could be argued as being part of the "bomb squad"

Really?. I wasn't the one asking the question, if that was an attempt of irony it was a huge fail.

Yes, the words 'bomb' and 'squad' are quite common in the English language.

Just forget about the 'avfc' part, which was the most important part of the search.  ::)

How we expected to ditch the high-earners by banishing them from the first team squad, thus letting other clubs know they were unwanted and available for little or no fee, remains a boneheaded idea.
