What a sacrilegious lot!!! I presume the cakes were being sold to pay for the repairs. I was born in Aston, I hope they raise enough to keep the spire at the heart of the community. You always know you're getting near to VP when you see it.

Is Hull the last game the Eddy's will be open ? Is the demo going ahead ? Is that building not listed ?

Bloke who owns/runs the Eddies...open in time for the first game next season I believe? Big old SKA knees up at the Eddies after the Hull game. Get on it!
Is the Eddy's closing or will he be running the 2 pubs now ? Massive investment in the new one , what's it called by the way ? I can remember walking past it as a kid when it was open in the 70's 80's but can't remember the pub name

No, Eddies is to be demolished to make way for a business park. New one is still to be called the Aston Tavern.

Not wishing to be pedantic but its actually making way for highway junction improvements to serve the new "Aston Manufacturing Hub" industrial park.  I'm certain this will be a derelict site for a good many years which is a damn shame when a number of local boozers are being levelled to make way for it...

I can understand what the Council/LEP is trying to achieve - the thinking is it will be available to serve another "JLR I54" situation i.e. a huge site serviced and ready to accommodate an urgent major need.  Trouble is such companies much prefer greenfield sites...

Is the Aston Social staying open? I use it for midweek games when I can't be arsed with the trek to the Barton's.

I only ever use The Barton's or Sacred Heart. Which isn't very often due to selling, next season i'll probably go to The Barton's more. Which will delight the regulars.

It's already going to be full of Edwards throw-outs bemoaning the lack of Hooters barmaids, now I have to put up with you too?

The swan and Mitre's also up for sale too.I imagine they've seen the impending reality of the Aston tavern really eating into their customer base next  season.A shame,I've always liked the vibe in there, despite the 1980's feel to it's surroundings, and it's ideal for those of us North Townies whom use the train.

However, they'll be one 12 year old chuffed to bits,my son detests the place, unfortunately I've made the basic error of meeting his friends in the Holte pub, spoilt forever. However they all love the 'Skerrratchings' fella outside the Trinity too, imitating it perfectly.

I'll be the one sat in the corner drink half a stout and occasionally mumbling "brand new issue out today" before bursting into tears.

I assume you and Legion will both be doing that, so I'll recognise you as the one that isn't on fire.

There are some architecturally wonderful pubs in inner-city Birmingham. Unfortunately, they're nearly all in the wrong places to be viable.

The Villa Tavern, Swan & Mitre, Brittania and The King Ed's VII, all beautiful buildings. Real shame if we lose them.

Historically the Aston Hotel could beat them all.
