It's a consortium lead by Brian Richardson apparently.

I'm assuming you're joking, right?

It is in the Daily Mirror ffs and in addition there are no quotes.  File it straight in the bin.

Quotes from who though? He's hardly going to print quotes from our new owners before they've actually taken over.

The story says that (I think) they've known that talks have been going for a few months. Why have they only mentioned it now?

I would hope Randy would have the interests of the club at heart and not just sell to the first buyer who matches the asking price. So if there is (and I think there is an interested party but have no idea who), I would hope they have what is needed to take the club forward.

As for the Benitez issue, I didn't expect a throw away line to turn into a couple of pages of debate as to Benitez' merits. For what it's worth, I would rather give an unproven manager (that has started well) a chance over a vastly over-rated manager who like Houllier would espouse the virtues of Liverpool at every chance. Benitez is another manager who sets his teams up to play boring, defensive football, makes glaring defensive errors (not playing Hamann in the final against Milan left a huge whole between defence and midfield that led to Milan being 3-0 up at half-time) and has previously said he was only interested in the job if he had a huge transfer fund to blow. I still remember that press conference when he brought in a dossier of statistics to counter one thing Ferguson had said.

I wish him no ill whatsoever but if you had to name three top flight managers who appear at greatest risk from Houllier type illness the top two would be Steve Bruce followed by Rafa Benitez.

If this is true I really hope the consortium has sufficient money and footballing knowledge. We can't afford to be run on a tiny budget moving forward.

If we stay up I reckon at £150m there will be 3 or 4 parties bidding

I think until Premiership survival is assured talk of take overs is premature. Having said that the fact that Delph signed a new contract signals that something may be in the pipeline.

Because the only reason somebody would accept a big promotion is to work for somebody who comes from the same country as him, but crucially it can't be the person who comes from the same country as him who gave him the job in the first place?

Right-o.

You'll look stupid now if the new owner's Basil Brush.
