I don't think we shall ever have a more well meaning owner than Randy Lerner, but as the saying goes the road to hell is paved with good intentions.   For the good of the club we now need a hard nosed, pragmatic, ruthless owner.   i also agree that the way he was treated by O'Neill hurt him very deeply and personally.

We are all supporters and care about our club.  What is starting to get to me is that it seems as though Lerner does not care enough now.  The management of the playing affairs of the club is floundering and it is almost like Lambert is left isolated with no support.  Just giving him a budget for transfers and saying get on with it is not support.  The fiasco of assistant manager and coaches is just an example of lack of support.

The days of a manager carrying a club have long gone.  Even SAF had the support of a money making machine.  If Lerner does not want to get his hands dirty with the day to day running of the club he needs to give the CEO the power to make financial decisions.  Does this happen, I doubt it as evidenced by the quality/'name' of the people that have filled the post and almost seeming as though they are just in the background.

There are quite a few of us who have been calling it as shite for some considerable time now.

It's not a competition Andy. Being patient and having a more long term view, trying to have a sense of optimism doesn't make you right or wrong. We all hurt the same when our team and club is what it has become. Each generation of Villa fans has had to deal with difficult years. I just hope this generation gets to actually what a truly great we are.
I certainly wasn't trying to make it competitive.
I was just trying to make the point that loads of people, just not posters on here, have felt we are in freefall, and have been for some time.
Trouble is, as we all get a bit older (or a lot in my case), the feeling that we are slipping further and further away from being relevant get stronger.
Let's hope change isn't too far away eh?

And flatly denied by Mark Cuban who even goes on to say something along the lines of 'I've never even heard of Aston Villa'

Mark Cuban is incredibly well known in North American sports circles. Self made billionaire from the tech industry which he and his partner sold to Yahoo for a lot of their stocks back before Yahoo is what it is today. Unbelievably passionate about his teams, attends pretty much every Dallas Mavericks game, very hands on and supports his coaches with an immense level of investment. From many perspectives and certainly from a personality standpoint as opposite to Randy as one could imagine.
