I think it's more to do with the price tag.

Which would make it no great loss - no prospective buyer put off by the cost of the club would be in a position to bankroll us to where we want to be.

Very true. I just hope Lerner's negotiating with someone behind the scenes because we can't keep going on like this.

Indeed. The club just seems completely directionless at the moment.

With the wall of secrecy which has been built around the club you can only go with your gut feelings.   Mine are that there was a deal as good as done at the end of last season but for whatever reason it fell through and we are bobbing along with Plan B.   Just enough funds will be made available to retain our Premiership status and the rest is in the lap of the gods.   Try as I might I cannot see us being sold any time in the short or medium term future.

Putting aside the hilarity over the plight of the noses, its another lesson that we should be careful about what we wish for.

For all of Randy's faults, ID rather have him here than some of the other chancers around.

I think if it was just a case of dumping the club I think he would have done it already. There's one thing being bought. Another being bought by someone who has good intentions and the ability to push the club on. There are just so many complete chancers out there that it has be difficult to know the true intentions of any prospective buyer. I'm sure if it was all about the money we'd be owned by someone else today.

I am sure you are right Toronto. I take comfort from the absence of a buyer as reassurance that a buyer of high standing and reputation is being sought. A bit like a father waiting for a suitable husband for his homely daughter.
The problem of course is the pace of modern life. Clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City can mushroom from perennial laughing stocks to global businesses in a handful of years. The corollary is equally true that teams like Forest and Ipswich and Wolves can lose top drawer status equally rapidly. Nature hates a vacuum and so does football. There is no standing still, only up or down.

I honestly didn't think Lerner would make a more idiotic decision than appointing McLeish.

To give this guy a new 4 year deal on what 3 decent performances at the start of the season was knee jerk lunacy at its worst.

My gut reaction was we should've waited until xmas just to see if he could keep us in this form for more than a few games.

What was the rush? If we move at snail pace to offer fresh terms to Vlaar and Delph, then Lambert could certainly wait for his new deal as he's hardly an in demand manager based on results in the last few seasons.

His contract extension had nothing at all to with early results this season, and everything to do with how RL sees this transitional period. He sees PL as the man for the job.

The Guardian reckon the owner of the 76'ers that was looking at us is close to a deal to buy Crystal Palace.

The guys I play darts with are mostly Palace fans and they seem to think that this wasn't happening as it was an old story just re-hashed. Apparently they were linked with Palace a few years back.
