Now Paul Lambert has a new four-year deal, surely this leaves all the supposed ITK dead in the water?

This either means Lerner is staying or a 'New owner' has given the green light for him to carry on.

How does this new owner, who doesn't actually own the club, get to direct that a manager can receive a new contract?

I wanted a takeover to happen as much as the next man, but every time something happens which suggests no takeover - the manager saying there's nothing happening, rumours from the club that nothing is happening, a new CEO being appointed, the manager getting a new contract - people always seem to find some possible way of spinning it to suggest that there is really a new owner.

There is not one single shred of evidence to suggest there is a new owner, none at all.

There are lots of shreds of evidence to suggest nothing is about to happen any time soon.

I'm certainly not spinning anything, my comment was just in line with the thread title, including childish pole.
But, if the 'New owner to be' (if there happens to be one) is happy for Lambert to carry on he might have told the CEO to sort his contract out.
I happen to agree, there isn't any evidence of this.
I live and hope.

The money committed and the effort that our new owner is going to, to hide the fact that the takeover is imminent is mighty impressive in my opinion.

Now we know that Lambert is committed for the next four years but Randy isn't. I'm looking forward to 2.pm. today when the NYSE opens.
Oh and by the way has anyone ever seen Admin and Randy together in the same room?

I would say that regarding the manager's contract they delayed as long as possible to see if a takeover would happen, one doesn't appear to be imminent so they have had to act.

Lambert signing a new contract really doesn't change that much.  It just means that barring a massive colapse he is likely to see out this season, and that while Learner is still in charge the manager has his backing.  Which isn't too surprising as he had it during the bad times of the last two years.  Of course if we have a better season then selling the club could be easier.

One for the takeover theorists - Larry Ellison steps down from Oracle: a sure sign he's buying Villa.

Is there a North/South-Korean-style border hotline? Or has it long since been severed?

Keep this to yourselves but over lunch I heard that multi-millionaire football agent to the stars, Jorge Mendes, is in for us. Expect a queue of the world's footballing talent desperate to join us. Add to that Mendes has a partnership with Creative Artists Agency in the States so our profile will soon go global.

From in article in today's Birmingham Mail:

Quote
The owner’s plans to sell have not changed despite his renewed enthusiasm which includes handing out new contracts to the manager and some of Villa’s top performers.

Ahead of tomorrow’s game against Arsenal, Lambert said:

“If something did come in a month, two month, three years or whatever, Randy will do what he thinks is best for Aston Villa.

“If that is to sell it to a beneficiary who will make it stronger that hasn’t changed but he’s right on it, right with it.

“He’s always loved the club. I don’t think anyone should be under any illusion about that. He’ll tell me things when he needs to.”

Lambert had remained relaxed about signing a new deal at Villa insisting privately that his main focus was getting his star players to extend their stay.
