Club Statment

"Following the point yesterday at Villa Park, there have been stories about my selling the Club. On a personal level, I had hoped the emphasis would have been on the amazing effort on the part of our manager and our players to regroup throughout a very difficult week. Injuries to Libor and Christian, compounded with the early loss of Jores and the difficult rehab of Charles have no doubt left Paul with far less to work with than is fair. Still, Paul Lambert has done nothing but work within the parameters I've set, put the Club first and continue to trust his players. As regards my personal role at the Club and the steady rumours of a sale, I will address these after the season. Paul Lambert, Paul Faulkner and I speak daily and remain committed to the immediate job of limiting distraction and confusion in order that Villa have the best chance possible of finishing on a strong note."

Amazing effort. There's only one thing amazing about our manager and players and that's how f*****g crap they are

So we expected MON levels of success using a fraction of the investment, whilst paying off the excesses of the MON era. Lambert may we'll be very limited, but I personally think he's had a nigh on imposible job to do.

Now I am confused- I was beginning to waver on renewing my season tickets now this non denial of  the club being sold has got me thinking about taking the plunge again. A more cynical person would say that this could be all part of a complex marketing plan to shift season tickets.

There's no way this is part of a marketing plan. That statement seems to suggest he's selling up. He's got rid of the Browns so what reason would he keep bank rolling the  money pit of a Premier League football club?

Larry Ellison's not fit to brew the Java at Villa, they should be holding out for no one less than Warren Buffet.

Seriously though, my preference would be for Paul Allen.

Amazing effort to take a point at home to Southampton?

Christ, that's 'Proud History, Bright Future' properly buried.

Sounds to me like he's definitely selling.

What a bizarre statement though. Why make it and why day what he did?

The fact he's not denied anything with regards a sale or future investment all equates to the fact that we area out to be sold! I'm extremely confident of this now.
Can't wait for this season to end so we can get some clarity and hopefully see some huge new investment from a new owner who gives a shit and we can get back to building a decent side again.
Hopes he new owner immediately wants to bring in his own men and a new manager!!
Wouldn't be surprised to see Klinsmann - just a gut feeling

Exactly, we need a complete clean sweep including many of the players. Even some of the better ones aren't very good, they just seem so compared to the rest of the dross. Lambert and Faulkner need to be shown the door asap if not sooner

Anyone see this in the Telegraph?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/10774170/Aston-Villa-set-for-200m-US-takeover-if-they-stay-up.html

Would make sense, especially seeing as the club have rushed out a statement on a bank holiday that categorically does not rule out the club being up for sale. If Randy wasn't going to sell they would make that explicit.

Bizarre is the word. It reads like something he came up with about 2am after an evening on the sauce. What exactly is it meant to achieve? He claims his priority is to limit distraction, but putting out a statement which pointedly fails to answer the question that's causing all the distraction is obviously going to lead to even more speculation. If he didn't realise that, then he's really not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

What does Randy Lerner know? He's got this 'club for sale' rubbish off Twitter, I'll bet. Believe what you like, but I won't believe a thing until Eastie says so on TBONE.

I wonder if he is not selling up but taking on an additional investor? That would be very welcome news. Randy stays and we get more money to spend (yes I like Randy).
