Pub to watch the game on Saturday
« on: March 26, 2014, 03:25:45 PM »
I've just binned my Sky Sports/BT subscription, which was a bit hasty as I now need to find somewhere to watch the game on Saturday.

The only requirement is that it needs to have decent food and be in central or south Brum...

Suggestions?!? (Not the Clifden as I'm always in there)

Cheers,

LV

PS - mods please move if I've posted in the wrong place....

The Rococco Lounge (now called something else, Mooch Bar I think) will probably show it. Not in any way a good pub like the Clifden though. Does do food, but I'm not sure how great it'll be.

The other worry is that there will probably be nearly as many glory hunters as Villa fans in there.

Exactly. I really wouldn't bother going out into town for this one. The brummie reds will be looking to bait Villa fans scumbags that they are.

I'd expect Villa fans to outnumber Manure fans about five to one in Rococo.

I don't know if Rococo changed hands when it changed names. It was very much Villa as the bloke who owned it was Villa and at one stage it showed all our games. Haven't been in there for a couple of years at least, so if it has changed hands it might not be quite the same now.

I watched the away win against Norwich there this season, but haven't been since. Gets rammed in there, you need to get there about an hour and a half before kick-off to get a decent seat. Not easy with a 12.45pm kick-off! They did always show Villa away matches in there, assume they still do.

If you order food you get to sit in the better spots on the right as you walk through the door.

Try the Red Lion. The best burgers in town and Batham's.

Assume he means the one in the Jewellery Quarter. Very good pub, didn't know it showed footy though. Mind you, this one's on BT Sport, rather than a foreign feed.

I really rate Hennessey's in Digbeth (back of the Bullring car park).  Quality boozer, the problem is it's full of noses.  I've watched early KO's in there before though and have never had any trouble! Worth bearing in mind anyway

I wouldn't recommend anywhere in Digbeth on a Small Heath home game day.

Maybe Selly Oak but then it will be full of gloryhunting students!

There are a couple of pubs that show football by the train station anyway.

Northfield Town F.C wall to wall screens, you can even queue at the bar and a screen above your head and they will have a 15:00 game on likely to be be Baggies v Cardiff.
