1 – Not sure, but I'd like to see Guzan, Lowton, Clark, Vlaar, Bertrand, Westwood, Delph, Bacuna, Albrighton, Benteke, Gabby in a 4-3-3 or possibly with a midfield diamond.  If a diamond, then perhaps Weimann in for Bacuna at the point of it.
2 – Not hugely, but being realistic results were never going to be too much better than they have been so far.  Perfromances haven't been as good as the results, however.
3 – No one has really surprised and me and disappointment wise I'd have to say Benteke, but there are a few candidates.
4 – Doing OK given the resources.
5 – Vlaar for us as we rely on him so much defensively.  Not sure on Newcastle.
6 – Close to where we are and 10th seems to be our ceiling this season.
7 – 8th or 9th, more likely 9th now Cabaye has been sold.
8 – Fulham, Cardiff and WBA to go down.  The top 7 is set now, so it's a matter of who finishes bottom of that min-league.  I'm hoping it's Man Utd.
9 – 2-1 Villa - I'm an eternal optimist!
10 – Anything except a turnip  ;)

1) GK Guzan CB Baker CB Vlaar LB Bertrand RB Bacuna CM Delph CM Westwood CM El Ahmadi LWG Agbonlahor RWG Weimann CF Benteke

or

GK Guzan CB Baker CB Vlaar CB Clark LWB Bertrand RWB Bacuna CM Delph CM Westwood CM Weimann/El Ahmadi CF Agbonlahor CF Benteke

2) Not amazing, but we're in a better position than last season and have gotten a lot off the wage bill.

3) I think Bacuna has impressed at times and is a good freekick taker, but better in midfield than right-back. Vlaar is our best defender, when he's out Clark and Baker struggle. Westwood, Sylla and Lowton have all gone backwards from last season. Tonev and Luna have been disappointing.

4) He could do with mumbling less. Has gotten rid of the dead wood on a tight budget, but no idea why he didn't sign a centre-back as cover in January and a creative midfielder would have been nice.

5) For us, Guzan, Vlaar, Delph, Gabby and Benteke. For you, whoever is replacing Cabaye in central midfield.

6) I think we'll 'make it exciting' by going on a poor run but be okay; say 15th.

7) You look nailed on for 9th at the moment, although 8th is possible.

8) Oo er, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurzzz, Liverpool, Manure, Everton. Then Norwich, Fulham, Cardiff (Cardiff look doomed).

9) Erm, 2-1 to your lot.

10) A potato, used to be considered exciting, now seen as a bit dull, but still essential.

1 – How do you think you’ll line up?
Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Bertrand, Delph, Westwood, Bacuna, Albrighton, Gabby, Benteke
2 – How has Aston Villa's season gone so far? Happy?
It's not been great, could have had a very easy run to Wembley if we'd have learnt how to beat lower league sides from Yorkshire. Premier league is just boring really isn't it.
3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Aston Villa? Who has disappointed?
Albrighton, really stepped up his game. Might be controversial but Guzan, seemed to save everything last year but barely makes a save nowadays. Still love him though as he gives his all and seems to really care.
4 – What are your views on Paul Lambert at the moment?
Tactically clueless but a lovely man who i'd happily have a pint with.
5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides?
Gabby, away from home his pace is crucial. Your centre mid, thats where we tend to always lose games.
6 – Where do you think Aston Villa will finish now?
10th - 15th. Could even be dragged into relegation if we're not careful
7 – Where do you think Newcastle will finish now?
9th
8 – Who will finish in the top six? Who will go down?
Citeh, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Everton (maybe i'm being optimistic really Man U out) relegation, Cardiff, Albion and i'd love Sunderland or West Ham to join them as can't stand their fans / club
9 – Scoreline prediction?
3 - 1 Newcastle unfortunately.
10 – If your football club was a vegetable, what vegetable would it be?
Has to be a turnip in honour of the legend that is Graham 'turnip' Taylor

This is a crafty pre match ploy by Pardew.

4-3-3 Guzan,Bacuna,Vlaar,Baker,Bertrand,Westwood,El Ahmadi,Delph,Weimann,Agbonlahor,Benteke

Not happy with the home form but reasonably happy with our points total so far

Delph and Bacuna have been the surprises and Albrighton could join them. Benteke and Weimann have failed to hit the heights of last year so far.

I will judge Lambert at the end of the season

Benteke and Remy

13th

9th

Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Everton
Cardiff, Fulham, Norwich

1-1

Potato. Always part of the Premier League meal one way or another.

Brilliant. Perhaps you'd like to explain why you're happy to ridicule a man who did more for our club than just about anyone else alive.

How simple your life must be if you let a flippant throwaway comment bother you so much.

I bet the Newcastle guy never thought his vegetable question would cause such controversy.

I didn't think vegetables had even been discovered in Newcastle. That's what's surprised me most in this thread so far.

Potatoes don't count as veg. I've been told that many times when trying to pass them off as one of my five a day.

When I read it first, it reminded me of one of those cringeworthy questions from Blind Date in the 90s.

"If I were a vegetable I'd be a cauliflower and you could be broccoli as we'd go togther so well!"
