Last time I renewed was back in 77/78 when I had a standing season ticket for the Holte end. ;)

On a practical level I don't need to renew again and as a "protest" I won't - tickets readily available on Viagogo from those mugs (me) who get ST's and there is little chance of a Cup Final appearance soon.

Stourbridge won 4-1 today - I'm just a gloryhunter

This is why I questioned why we still get 36000 for home games. We are not warranting much more than 28000 at the moment, with most of them being mugs like me.

I always feel like I can't be bothered with it anymore, but something in the back of my kind always thinks "what if next season is where we turn brilliant and win something???".

That kind of happened to me, I packed up in 99 then we got to fa cup final. Then in 2009 I stopped again and they got to the 2010 final, sadly they lost both

All the people I used to go with have stopped going (I must change my deodorant) and I've begun to wonder why I bother when it's not enjoyable, but if I didn't go I'd only be glued to the radio/internet wanting to know what was happening for the whole 90 minutes so I will doubtless still be there next year.

The reason we are all debating this is the desperate fair we are served up every time we go.
A half decent home record we could probably all accept but it's been absolutely dreadful for 3 seasons and it's getting worse. The only influence we have is not renewing our ST or for those who pay on the day to stay away.i don't want to do that as I love the Villa, but when it looked like Lerner might keep McLeish on and the ticket office were phoning us I made it clear that I would only renew when he'd gone.It has now got to the same stage with Lambert.

Sums it up for me too. Son now working most Saturadys and its easy to get tickets if we want to go to a midweek or Sunday game. There are better things I can spend £1000 on (plus the parking / holte suite entrance fees / food / wasted bets on top).

I'll still go but at least it'll be on my terms.

For me, giving up my season ticket was the beginning of the end. The matches I went to became less and less until none at all. When you haven't already paid you're much less obliged to go. I save a lot of money. I still watch every game live sitting in my front room. On the off chance of us reaching the FA cup final I know I will raid the savings to pay a tout or beg a ticket on social internet sites.

I used to really look forward to games, having a few pints etc... now it feels like a chore. I'm also reluctant to go at times. It's just how depressing everything to do with Villa has become. We're really fading into a mediocre club.

I still enjoy the walk from the car park, seeing the stadium in the distance, buying the fanzine, love going through the turnstile up the steps till the inside of VP comes into view, players warming up, having a chat about how today could be different, we then kick off and the reality clicks in.

I'm sure there's plenty like you Steve who love the whole pre-match ritual. The club should sell tickets based around "the Match Day Experience" without having to watch the game, something like a sporting version of the Black Country Museum.

Only said this yesterday. Went into the Holte and had a couple of pints, watched the second half of the Sky game. Chatted and then took my seat 15 mins before ko.

Always sit and take in this wonderful stadium and remember the great times I have had - that's the problem though, it's all memories.
Then the match starts and spoils it.

My nipper not renewing so that means i won't either - can't be arsed the fare served up is absolute garbage. I missed the Arsenal, Swansea and Sheff Utd games due to my bad knee
and i didn't miss it, watched the 2 x PL games on TV/ Live stream and i think that is what i will do in the future....damn sight cheaper as well.
I think i have had a ST for just over 40 years so will be a wrench especially the pre & post match ales and chat.....

Same for me. Can't be bothered with the Norwich game now (don't like the late kick off time for a start) and not sure on the Chelsea game even though I have tickets.

There is no real incentive to go other than loyalty really.
