'We'll definitely try [to play a more entertaining brand of football],' the former Norwich manager said. 'We'll go and try and win every game we can. I'm not going to try and sit back, I've not been used to that. We'll go and try and win. If we can do that with style, then great. If you nick the odd one by doing it the other way, then great, we'll take it.

'Norwich were like that [playing entertaining football] for three years. It wasn't just the Premier League that they did that, they'd done that in League One and the Championship. There's too many people who come and watch you — especially here where you get 40,000 at your ground. I'm pretty sure they're not going to sit there and wait for you to take 40 minutes to get into the game and have your first shot at goal. They won't accept it, so you have to get the crowd going. That's what we'll try to do"

Yes my admiration for Paderborn (apart from the fact that I did my National Service near there) was tinged with an Arbeit Macht Frei dimension.

It just pisses me off that we have fat players like Bent and Cole and Grant Holt before Bent ate him and I do like the notion of the players having to live at the ground.

Mo Salifou still lives at Villa Park. You can hear him scuttling around in the walls and under the floorboards. Occasionally he gets spotted stealing balti pies from one of the concession stands. He's also apparently been showing Jores Okore round his tunnels and has offered him permanent residence once his fall into total obscurity is complete.

I do miss Mo, wish he'd pop-up from time to time.

My brother got reported by someone on Wikipedia for editing Salifou's page entry to suggest that he had acquired the nickname ''Minesweeper head" on account of his then tufty hairstyle. Weren't being racialist or 'owt, just found it endering that he reminded him of one of the three games you got pre-packaged with Windows '95 when the first family pc was bought.

My dad did his national service near there, too. Munster.

Although, thinking about it, that was the British zone, so it's not really surprising

Emile Heskey would probably improve our scoring chances at the moment.

We've basically come full circle and are back to where we were under McLeish, which is incredible really when we've still got the manager that followed him.

Good observation, Lee.
And depressing.

If, over the next few games, we don't improve and score some goals, then I'll complain as I have previously. However, let's give them the opportunity to play well and look quite good like they did in the last league match against a team were more matched to our standards (Hull).

I'm hopefull of a good win on Monday.

I think from his opening presser, the quote I must remember was him commentating on some of the McLeish home games where we barely had any shots at goal and he said that wouldn't be happening anymore.

First game against Everton took 42 mins for our first shot and too many similar home games since.

I actually wish we were still in transition.
