Oh Christ the horrors of Reo-Coker and Cuellar at right-back. Ivanovic I think has played right-back for enough years to be considered naturalised in the position, but I'm not sure how regular O'Shea and Brown were - it was a fill-in if Neville was injured, if I recall correctly.

Milner in midfield was something many of us thought about well before O'Neill clocked onto it. It was quite a lesson as to how even the most well-regarded manager could turn out to be completely clueless about some things.

Sunderland fans may not believe it but I recall John O'Shea being United's best outfield player in a Champions League final before. They were well beaten by Barcelona the same night. Wiki tells me that Wes Brown had the assist for Ronaldo's goal in the 2008 Champions League final. Maybe Gary Neville did have injury problems alright, seem to remember Danny Mills playing in a World Cup maybe 2002, back then but both Brown and O'Shea played a good bit when they were fit.

Ferguson was good at that kept others like Park, Fletcher even Wellbeck very involved in the first team throughout a season so they were ready for extended spells in if there were injuries and also werent inclined to chance their luck elsewhere either.

Milner had already played CM for Newcastle. As well as just behind the striker. Why any team plays him as a winger/wideman is beyond me.

Agreed. He's got a bit of trickery, but much more industry, positional sense and passing range.

What I never get is valuing and buying a player at £20m+ based on his CM performances, and then you stick him out wide where he is far less effective. I know they can afford it but it's just a waste of a player.

I think it's £10m worth for his contribution to them, and £10m worth for his loss to us. Juve pioneered this and now everyone does it - weaken your rivals as well as strengthen yourselves. Look at Bayern and Dortmund. The big clubs are parasitic.

Is it true that Paul Lambert has been used as voice coach for the actors on Jamaica Inn?

Can we just sack him now whilst he's sat on the bench before he throws on a 5th striker and gets Guzan to start lumping it into the box.

He really is the pits.

(Someone kidnap Baker too, he must be Lambore's love child to keep getting in the team)

Can't think of any reason for sticking with Lambert for the last few games.

It's clear he's leaving it up to the new owners to get rid of him. He has been a stain on our club.

Lambert wont be gone until a new owner comes in. Regardless of whether we stay up or not.
