Just went on their website. Their current kits are really nice , lovely white away one. However on their history section they don't mention the villa at all and just say they chose the colours  themselves.

The most important issue in the establishment of Trabzonspor was the colors of the club. Although a number of elaborate theories have been put forward as to why claret and blue was adopted, it transpires the club chose the colors in simple tribute to the famous and historic English club Aston Villa F.C

Odd that this has only come to light now. And that of Luca Pagliuca's support of us - did this start shortly after Ray Houghton and Phil King pwnd him in the summer of '94?

Never heard the Trabzonspor thing before but I've been aware of Pagliuca's support of Villa for years. I'm sure I read about it around the time we played them in the UEFA Cup.

yeah but its suprising they don't mention the villa on their own site in the history of the club, odd.
