With a lot of 'disagreements' though, you often use an exaggerated example to make a point.

I fully understand what Dave Javu is saying, without literally believing he thinks we should forgive Ellis just as much as the lovable rogue Mugabe.

I don't think DJV is equating Mugabe with Ellis as a direct comparison, either. I just think it's so much of an exaggerated example, it has no bearing whatsoever on the person being discussed.

That's fair enough paulie, I have no issue with him anyway, I nearly asked who he is.

Happy birthday Doug.

P.S. I know who he is.

Saw him at Hull before the 0-0 this season. Like most games, he'd driven himself up there and was driving back after the game. Pretty incredible support from a multi millionaire 89 year old who loves the club as much as any of us.

He's certainly had a wider choice than most.

That interview with Nick Owen was sad to watch. Good to see he's still motoring in though. Happy birthday Doug

Just watched his interview on AVTV. In true Doug style, he explained how much his house was worth, to a bemused Jack Woodward.

You have to love his obtuseness. Would make a great character in the fast show. "Football chairman" .

He really doesn't understand why "the fans" disliked him does he?

Reminds me of a consultant psychiatrist I worked with who asked in a very serious tone "why don't patients thank us when we section them? We're doing it for their own good"

Thank goodness he was a travel agent not a porn baron (why is it a "baron")

Happy Birthday Sir Doug

He had his failing and made mistakes but in his last 15 years he was chairman of club that got us to an a fa cup final , 2 league cups wins and league runner  up twice.

We are no where near achieving any of last in last 5 years , happy birthday Doug
