Jo Pattison 19/02/48 - 26/10/13
« on: November 20, 2013, 10:03:27 AM »
My Mum. In her early teens she was an avid follower of Alvechurch. In the late 60s, studying and having family connections in Yorkshire there was a brief dalliance with Leeds (I know) but really from the moment she started going out with my Dad in 1966 she'd become part of the Villa family.

She indulged her husband and sons' obsession with all things claret and blue with her characteristic patience and generosity. She loved nothing more than spending time with us and was a regular attender at Villa Park over the years, even braving the away end at Fratton Park.

Her last visit was 14th September this year against Newcastle. It was my brother's birthday and my Mum brought a cake. She restrained herself from singing "Happy Birthday" but proceeded to hand out the cake outside the Bartons, saying "he can't be embarrassed, he's 38 now"

So if you saw a mad woman handing out cake that day that was my Mum and we all loved her dearly. She has left a huge hole in our family but we are struggling on, memories like the one above will live forever.

A similar tale with my mother's adoption to the claret and blue cause. She's had to put up with my father, brother and me, and our Villa obsession. She loves it now though, and is often seen in away ends all over the country.

Can't comprehend what you're going through. All the best to you and yours though, mate. So sorry to hear of your loss.

That made me smile. Let memories like that be your strength. RIP - your mum.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds as if your mum has left you with some lovely memories but it is probably very difficult for you all, right now. RIP, Jo, and best wishes to you and your family, MV.

Jo was my sister-in-law. After she met my brother she converted to Villa and became a committed Villan. With Ken, Andrew and Michael she was a regular on the Holte Lower, where she would dispense coffee, chocolate bars and optimism.

I remember your mum handing out cake after the Newcatle game! It was very welcome. She was obviously a lovely lady and you will have some very special memories to sustain you.
