There's tunnels and there's tunnels.

That's a tunnel.

Rather than say, "This Is Villa Park",  I think it should say, "Entrance Tunnel My Lord"

Everyone would love that...

It should say "The Home Of League Football
                                      Villa Park"

...and it would be perfect!

I agree with the earlier opinion that the "This is..." bit smacks of Liverpool.

Actually I'm a little disappointed. I'd rather we created a home team tunnel and an away team tunnel. The home team tunnel would be similar to what you see now but with the carpet also layered wih rose petals. Gentle, yet buxom maidens would greet the team at the end of the game, but only in victory.

The away team tunnel is dark and cold. There would be cobwebs, and creepy things hanging from the beams. Broken glass and barbed wire would form obstructions as the teams entered the playing area. Finally they would need to negotiate a team of hungry Orcs and a Beserker.

Impressive. Very classy.

But am I the only one who thinks that to copy the "this is Anfield " sign is wrong. Maybe just " Villa Park".

Anyway, small point- it is a bloody fine welcome to the pitch.

I completely agree with you Simba.

I would also like us to have our trophies listed around the stadium like Ajax (and Arsenal)

Agreed on the Liverpool reference, I thought the same. Can't remember whether it was Shankly or Paisley that had the 'This Is Liverpool' sign installed but if Lambert becomes our equivalent, I would take that.

Maybe they could have used 'Founders of the Football League' or something like that.

I completely agree, I'd had the same thought when the new flags down Witton Lane were introduced, maybe even putting it over every entrance to the away section.

They might have thought of leaving room to add further titles in the future.

Faulkner says it should inspire the current team to add their own honours. I doubt it would cost that much to repaint it next time we win something.

I'd make the away tunnel a bit like the railway platform at the entrance to a concentration camp - sinister guards with barking dogs screaming at the players to hurry the fuck up.

Will they have to take their boots off before walikng on the carpet?

As long as it is heavy contract quality adhered down all over with the recommended adhesive onto a correctly prepared sub floor there should be no problem with premature wear.   ;)
