Bringing Her to the Villa Game
« on: October 06, 2013, 08:31:01 PM »
Being as I've now with my girlfriend for over 8 months, I finally decided (after a bit of nagging) to bring her to a Villa game. It won't be much of a shock to her, as she occasionally goes with her dad, a ST holder in the Trinity, but it's still going to be weird for me, as I've genuinely never gone to a Villa game with a female - not that there's anything wrong with that of course. She knows I'm very passionate about the Villa and is expecting to see me a go a bit nuts.

Thought I'd just go for it and bring her in the Holte with me for the Everton game, she's quite excited but mostly for the Balti pie.

How did this go for everyone else?

I always found the passages in Fever Pitch , that relate to this very question, among the most interesting.

Is the Villa your obsession or are you willing to share it?!

I took my to-be wife to the Villa over thirty years ago; she likes footie but is still not quite sure about my obsessive nature toward it.

My girlfriend once had a slight interest in the football. She came to 3 or 4 matches, but the final one she came to was the last defeat at home to Blues. The atmosphere that day was particularly ugly (for many reasons) and that was that for her. So, can't really blame her for not wanting to go again after that.

I took my Mrs to the 5-1 smashing of Blues (she's a Nose with a season ticket for over 18 years) after she suggested I go with her to the Sty. We sat in the Upper Trinity and the blokes in front turn round to her and said 'What's wrong with you? Fucking rejoice!'.  Her pretty little face was a picture. I said to her, if I went and sat with her the response would of been more severe.

Disaster... my bird still brings up my behaviour in arguments when I took her to an away game 3-4 years ago.

Don't take her. Instead of a beer at half time she will want a cappucino and she will demand all of your attention so you cannot talk to your mates.
You just will not enjoy it, you will not be yourself.
Give her some cash and let her go for a meal and do a bit of shopping in town, meet up after.
Hope this advice helps you.

Lots of Villa love

Sid the Sexist. ;D

My first big relationship lasted three years.
She only ever came to two games with me, one of them was on 26th May 1982. Witnessing us becoming undisputed Champions of Europe should have cemented our relationship for eternity but she left me two years later, I blame Ellis.

My son reached the final of the Birmingham Schools FA and the final was played at Villa Park. Not having been to a live game but having watched it on TV, she is sitting in the stand and asks when is the commentator going to start the commentry?

She actually thought what we hear on tv, the crowd heard !!!!!!!!!!!!

Beware..........

I go to most games now with my missus as my mates have largely either moved away or passed on or lost interest - and it is largely okay but never the same - as suggested the beer intake has gone down and behaviour has to be (largely) more restrained - with a choice I'd choose lads over girls on a match day all day long but I am sexist and old fashioned.
This said, next Saturday I am going to the Strictly Come Dancing live show at the BBC as a gift to the wife and given up Paul Weller tickets because i let her re-arrange our holiday without checking the dates so on reflection probably discard my opinion.....
.....or perhaps we could meet for double latte and pints at half time ?

That is because you didn't explain playing away rules to her.

My girlfriend can't stand football, but she's agreed to come to Villa Park with me at some stage.
