Wasn;t this announced last year though.  I'm sure prior to us getting to the final there was some announcement that it was to be replaced by a UEFA sanctioned competition run aling the lines of the Champions League.  Not sure why the press didn't pick up on it in such a way then, rather than leaving it to now when the changes are already in place.
Still, a crying shame though.

The 'Old boys network' that is modern day football makes me appreciate the NFL more by the year. For those not interested in NFL, their system is set-up so that the weak get stronger so that there's always healthy competition. Whilst one or two teams are usually there or thereabouts, it normally means that different teams come to the forefront each year which in turn makes it a lot more interesting.

I would like to think that if football was just getting started that we would have a similar system. Of course it isn't though and those sides that have been able to establish themselves in the elite have been able to cement themselves in such a way that it will always be the same teams challenging for everything with only the occasional exception.

Wankers. Sent my protest in writing.

Me too.

Nice of them to thank me for sending it. They obviously haven't read it!

I have also protested.

I'm going to have a Dirty Protest and smear my own shit all over my bathroom wall. It'll have the same effect as writing to UEFA, I'm afraid

If it wasn't clear enough already that UEFA see their mission as pandering to a small group of elite clubs, it should be now.  You can't play in the CL proper until you sign for one of them, and now you can't play in the junior version until you do the same.  The clubs left high and dry by this should simply organise their own version although I'd guess they'd need UEFA to sanction it.  And I sincerely doubt the self interested wankers would.

Does this mean that Villa will keep the NextGen trophy?

Looking for a spark of positive news in this.

I guess we do keep it. Not too sure who we would give it back to anyway, or if they'd want it if offered.

So Platini has got his way then. He wanted to have an eclusive tournament, doesnt want to see anyone other than the moneybag teams compete and to stop the progress of Next Gen I bet that potential sponsors have had a call from UEFA to stop fundign for Next Gen.

I pray for the day they all fuck off to a Super League
