Cheapskate !

5] Come On You Villa

Both Claret & Blue and Ain't No Bluff were included on this 1996 CD compilation of 20 Villa songs. Some of the offerings are a delight, other make you cringe but it was 100 per cent Villa - and event included two compositions which stood up in their own right. Nigel Kennedy provided I Believe in God, a jazz instrumental tribute to Paul McGarth, while Stephen Duffy's Holte End Hotel is arguably the most thoughtful and poignant Villa song ever recorded.

I had a copy of it or something very similar as part of a dvd collection of various cup finals. We listened to it on the way an away game a few years ago and some of it was very amusing. I lent it a mate so i'll have to ask him for it back.

Remember Clarrie Blue very well.
He was a genuinely significant Villa symbol when I was a kid and rocked up to home games at about 1 o'clock to take my place right behind the goal at the Holte End. Reading the programme from cover to cover, Clarrie Blue featured on a fair number of those pages.

Please answer the question: is it Villan or Villain?
I've always used the latter - my Blades mate texts me as "Villan". Do I need to put him right or amend my own spelling?

Either. Villain is preferable.

Your preference matches mine Leeg.
That's good enough for me!

The one for £5.86 only has 15 tracks. I think it's the 2000 re-issue.
Just ordered the 20 track version.

It'll always be Villans for me. Although some of the old badges I've got spell it Villa'ns.

Anyone know how the earliest reference to our nickname was spelt?

Talking of badges, here's one of my favourite sites - one for the nerds
