Kick outs?

When the goalkeeper kicks the ball out.

Sorry, i should have said Goalkicks. Kick-outs is a real Irish thing to say, apologies.
I blame Marty Morrissey.

They are  normally thrown fast to the player closest and hit him somewhere around his belly button... can't really do a lot with them.

Was it Barry and Alan Wright that had a little routine where it would get launched down the pitch from by our corner flag.

Yes.

Thanks for bringing back that memory. They were good together down that side weren't they?

I had to re-open this.  Are we the only Premier League team that regularly commit foul throws?

How comical was the Weimann one from Saturday?

Yes, that was atrocious and it is indicative of a chronic problem. Fuck all movement off the ball.

In my opinion this s due to a lack of confidence, other posters have maintained it is training/coaching. Somebody made a very cogent first post around Christmas time comparing how fear played out on confidence last season, and how it would be different this season. I would say he has been proved correct.

Watch when we take a corner. No runs to the near post. or drifting in or out. Standing like statues holding hands with the their marker who thinks, I wish it was always like this. By the way, you rarely see this on TV as the camera follows the ball. You just gotta be there. Once you are there you will wish were not, so I don't blame you.

I laughed when Weimann was having a go at the official after his foul throw. What a fool.

Has anyone else noticed how often we either give the ball away immediately from a thrown-in or the receiving player fails to return the ball to the thrower?  It really boils my piss as we seem to be the only team in professional football that cannot master this basic skill.

It's a Lambert thing. Ever since he took over we've struggled to keep the ball from throw ins. It's basic training ground stuff yet he can't even get that right.

Basic stuff like movement off the ball, especially to create space for others, has been an issue down the Villa long before Lambert arrived. It's something that has bugged me for a long time.

No it isn't. It's purely a Lambert thing. I've never known a time at Villa when throw ins were a problem till he turned up. As I said, it's basic training ground stuff yet he can't even get that right.

There isn't much we are good at. We're a shit team. But I do expect us to manage successful throw ins.

The amount of times the ball gets thrown at speed to the player receiving the ball, aimed somewhere between his knee and chest making it hard to control. Rarely to the feet or rarely a yard or so in front so they can move onto it. Truly pathetic.

Don't start me on corners!
