The sentence before says "but it was his first campaign, during which he scored 13 goals for Villa, that almost rewarded his move with the Barclays Premier League title."  So in that context, what they say is right, we've never won the Premier League title since it's been called that.

FA Premier League, Barclays Premier League, etc, etc. I think it is also correct to say we never won the Canon League. Or the Milk Cup or the Worthington Cup or the Rumbelows Cup for that matter. I think the point is we have won English football's highest domestic honour. And the League Cup.

How old is the trophy you get for winning the Football League? I know it's the same one we won in 1981, is it the same one we won in 1910 and even earlier too?

Oh, and as an aside, it annoys me when the Villa programme lists an opponent's honours and lists "First Division Championships" without bothering to qualify which First Division they're on about... which makes it look like Newcastle have been League Champions loads of times.
